How much should I charge to photograph a wedding? Do you have any advice for me ?

$2,000 and be sure to leave the lens cap on. Then you can just print one picture without all the picture editing and charge $60 per print. How much should I charge to photograph a wedding? Do you have any advice for me ?
LOL you had me worried there for a moment, until I looked at your profile.

The photo is funny, as is this line: ';I have read page one of part one of the Guide to Amateur Photography. So I am quite knowledgeable. ';

I guess you're quite the clown, huh? ;-)How much should I charge to photograph a wedding? Do you have any advice for me ?
Charge as little as you can so people won't have to deal with attitudes like some of the answerer's here http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
Charge zero. Based on your other questions I sincerely doubt you have the experience and equipment to do a proper job. If I'm wrong then please accept my apology.
I don't know, but I hope you have life insurance.

Is Dr. Laura Schlessinger a real Doctor? What do you think about the advice she gives and is she rude?

I was listening to this lady and I was surprised that much of the things she advised was the opposite of what I would of told someone. I was worried that I was maybe not seeing the world in the right way, but then I figured that she is out of touch with reality. Is Dr. Laura Schlessinger a real Doctor? What do you think about the advice she gives and is she rude?
It all depends on how you define the term ';doctor.'; She does have a PhD, but in physiology, not psychology -- big difference, obviousy. She hasn't had an active counseling license in years. As for the advice she gives, not only is she beyond rude, but she never really gets the full story. Instead, she wants a list of 'talking points' and makes a ridiculously quick assessment of the situation. She seems to espouse some sort of ';keepin' it real'; attitude, which is code for her being snarky and snide. Even Dr. Phil knows when to throttle back, for crying out loud. She's also violated just about every ';rule'; she touts (so-called ';shacking up'; with a man, having an affair with a married man, working while her son was small, etc.). Women especially should only listed if they enjoy being belittled and demeaned. Is Dr. Laura Schlessinger a real Doctor? What do you think about the advice she gives and is she rude?
i dont like her. i think her ';advice'; is just telling everyone theyre idiots who need to get a life and move on.

idk if shes a real doctor though

  • Can you give me some advice on how to sue my landlord?

I moved out in Aug. My ex-landlord...

    - shut off my air conditioning when my rent was 2 days late (illegal)

    - threatened to forcibly enter my apartment, drunk (I called police)

    - refused to fix my non-flushing toilet (illegal)

    - tried to evict me via post-it note (illegal - you can only evict through a court)

    ...among other broken laws.

He has the nerve of now billing me for September rent (I moved out in August after giving required notice), cleaning fees, cost to fix toilet, etc., and threatened ';legal action'; if I don't pay.

I can't afford a lawyer but I want to sue him. Do you think it's possible to do it on my own? I have proof, witnesses, etc., but no lawyer and I don't qualify for Legal Aid.

What can I do to prepare my case and better my chances? Can you give me some advice on how to sue my landlord?
You do nothing at this point. If he tries to (laughably) take you to court, you can be appointed an attorney through the court system. Then present your case. Witnesses should write an affa davit and get the document notarized. In the meantime you can always look up in your local phone book the agencies listed for housing where you can report a bad landlord. It's quite possible he's done this to other tenants, but anyone who tries to evict you via a post it note is obviously crying wolf and has no idea what he is doing. Can you give me some advice on how to sue my landlord?
You can sue in civil court (small claims) yourself by going to local courthouse and filling out a few form thru clerk of court.

about $50.00. You get it back if you win your settlement.

Be prepared to move out if you sue.

You might be better off calling housing authority or social services

for advice before you decide to sue in civil small claims court.

And first of all-- you need to notify the landlord by certified mail of your problems.

    DOCUMENTATION:

Give 10 days to respond to your problems.

You prob will be asked to moved maybe even evicted but if you do it right you can get temporary injunction untilafter your court date.

    Certified letter first.

    then folllow up.
YOU CAN SUE HIM YOUR SELF BUT YOU GONNA LOOSE AND PROBABLY GET COUNTER SUED UNLESS YOU GET A LAWYER.
He is just trying to buffalo you into paying, he probably won't do a think about it, sounds like a real looser. That kinda person can't get there act together to do anything . If you paid a deposit he can legally take out a cleaning fee, but not fixing the toliet. If he didn't require a deposit, that's his problem---------won't stand up in court.
Are you sure that you want to sue him? I'd say, call him up and tell him everything that you've said here. Make him realize that if you go to court he will lose and lose big time. If the guy has any sense and you go about it reasonably then he ought to agree to let everything drop. Then you can both go on with your regularly scheduled lives. That is what I did with my last landlord. He screwed up a lot of things, then tried to keep my security deposit. I called and pointed out all the stuff he had done wrong and said, hey, this is not enough money to be worth going to court over - why don't you just return my security deposit and save us both a lot of trouble? It worked!!
Sue him in small claims court..

    No lawyers allowed...
Don't sue. Let him take you to small claims court. You show up and argue your case to him. If everything is as you say and you've got the facts, and hopefully the documentation and proof, on your side, the judge will toss his case out.

What is the best writing advice you can give to anyone?

Don't force yourself to write. just write for pure enjoyment :)What is the best writing advice you can give to anyone?
Write what you want to write. And keep doing, when you finish a piece, ask another righter that you know to grade it for you and give you advice on how to make it better and better. Also dont get frustrated when something doesn't come easily, just put it down for a while and then come back when you have fresh ideas.

I am not a very good writer but I still hope these will help you. Good luck ;-)What is the best writing advice you can give to anyone?
Read the works of great writers and write down what you think the author was trying

    to say/

start by writting short stories, and letting your english teacher read them, and tell

you how better to do it.Keep in my mind that

    proper english is nessary.

I wish you all the luck in the world, and we need` young writters
    Cherish and treasures yr family
Show, don't tell. Unless you help with specifics, the reader can't see, feel, taste, hear, or smell what you're imagining.
Writing is like painting a beautiful picture the words must flow yet blend with the rest of the words as the colors of the paints must flow yet blend to create a beautiful picture.
Read and reread these sites: AUTHOR ASSIST COM. %26amp; WRITERS DIGEST, TIMOTHY HANIGAN COM. write any idea on a notebook. write, write.
I shall add if you are writing a composition, then divide it in three parts:-

    1 Introduction

2 Main body ( containing different paragraphs)

    3 Conclusion
I would say consider your audience carefully and consider what goal you want to accomplish by completing the writing task. And then write with that goal in mind.
Know yourself, for that is the only way to find your voice. With your voice, your words would soar high in the sky, regardless of what it is you wish to say. With your voice, you draw your audience in as if by hypnotism, linking them to you in a non tangible bond and keeps them coming back for more.
In terms of writing: try to use many different words and it would be better to have a very good vocabulary!

In terms of ideas: Write about what you like too much whatever it is this. Fantasy books are now in fashion.

In terms of style: That depends on the story you are writing. You can't write a love story and write it like you were writing a horror novel.

In terms of of effort:You must be concentrated on the main idea and keep writing but you must also hear advises from other people who are smarter than you. Writing a book is a task very hard with many problems in which you must find a solution. For more information e-mail me and ask me whatever you want. I let all my ideas get out of my soul, of my heart and of my mind and emboss in the PC screen in front of me. For me writing is one way to relax and escape from the boring world of reality in other unseen worlds that only the mind of a fantasy dreamer can access.First of all you have to believe to yourself. Writing a story is a very difficult task not only in writing it but after you have finished it get it published! You have to show the synopsis of the story to some people and ask them for advices and opinions. When you have started writing it you should be ready for many hours of writing and erasing and then rewriting. I don't want to scare you. You also have to know that some days you wont have even a drop of inspiration and other days you would write ten pages! One last thing, it may be hard to write and publish a book but the reward will be a hundred times bigger!!!

    Good luck!!!
Read. It keeps your mind going-- gives you motivation for your own writings.
    Avoid Verbosity.

    Keep it Simple and

Avoid using ';Big Words'; if the common ones would be as effective to convey what you wish to express.

    Happy Writing !
Well, like what someone famous once said, ';You gotta engage the audience from the first sentence itself.'; If you can do that, you will have a bright future ahead of you! ;) Good luck!
write from your heart, don't be afraid to reveal everything you feel. spell check and gramma and don't go putting them on here coz people will just steal everything.
Discovering your love in writing is like finding a new best friend. You can't wait to see each other and pick up where you left off!
I have been published hundreds of times and I can assure you that it didn't come from trying to write like someone else. All the college courses I took seemed to hint that what worked before would work again. I say write what's in YOU, just the way you would SAY it. So-called impressive words only make writers sound like they're trying too hard. Best wishes in your future writing, stick with it.
Everyone has its own writing style. You should focus on the thing you want to write, if it is a drama, action, article, news, etc.....If you want to write an excellent piece, you should try focus yourself on the genre you chose, and begin to jot down all the ideas that comes to your mind every sends and every minutes and try organizing it afterwards.
Don't plan on what you're writing, wing it. Sit down with you're favorite band playing in the background and just type away what you're thinking.

    Print and correct. Redo. Revise.

    Make it your own.
Good speillin, its' a must along wiht punc-tu-ation
Keep writing no matter what... write and read it several hours, days, weeks even months later and critique your style...

Eventually you will develop a style you and others will appreciate.
Read, read, read, write, write, write!!!!!!
Read and Write!!! Read everything you can get your hands on. Read it for the fun of it...but also study the layout, characters, jumps from scene to scene, and so on. And even if it's not a story or a novel you're working on...write anything. From a blog on the computer to a personal journal at home. Just write...it keeps the creative juices flowing.

Can you give me any advice you have for tampons during swimming?

I have swimming lessons today, and I'm thinking of using a tampon. I'm only thirteen, and I've never used one before. I have a heavy flow (it just started yesterday), so should I use a tampon? Which brand? Will it break in half? Is it uncomfortable?

(Sorry, I know that's a lot, but I'm freaked, though I really want to swim, too.)Can you give me any advice you have for tampons during swimming?
Okay, first of all... CALM DOWN!!!

To tell you the truth, I used a tampon the first time I got my period so I could go water skiing with my friends. The brand really doesn't matter, but I would reccomend using one with a plastic applicator and not cardboard. Personally, I use Tampax. No the tampon most definitely will NOT break in half, and in case you wondering this also, NO the string will not come out. If you buy a box of tampons, to make yourself feel better take one and just try and rip out the string. I'll telling you, without some serious force, which you aren't going to find when you're swimming, that thing ain't goin' no where! : )

My one piece of advice to you that I didn't really get until around my third period is that when you put the tampon in, make sure you push the applicator all the way up there! I started out pushing it in about a centimeter and everytime I went to the bathroom or moved around a lot it would start coming out and I'd have to go change. Push the applicator all the way up until you reach the part where you push up to make the tampon go in.

Also, it doesn't hurt at all! Not one bit! It'll feel a little strange for a few minutes but once it starts absorbing fluid then you can't tell it's there at all!

Good luck! Take it easy, it's not as bad as you might think! By the way, I'm a competitive swimmer so have fun at lessons! Can you give me any advice you have for tampons during swimming?
First things first... CALM DOWN GIRL!

Yeah, tampons are the only way to get in water during that time of month

No, it won't break in half, it's this cottony fabric stuff, so that would take a lot. If you follow the instructions that come in the box, and insert it properly, you shouldn't feel it at all.

I use Platex sport, I find they're easier to take out, but its all a matter of opinion. I started using tampons because of track, it sure beat having paper rubbing against your legs, and I've used them ever since.
Okay I am going to try and make this simple, since I am 14 (Just turned it) and I have had the same problem.

USing a tampon in pretty much the only way you can get in the pool without having problems, and it is best not to be in too long. It will not break in half, and if you do it right it should not be uncomfortable. You can use pretty much any brand, (My suggestion is the sport ones) and you should be able to get in the water.
I'm in competetive swimming and the first time i had my period i had swim practice, i freaked out about using a tampon. I would suggest trying it out before so you can make sure you know how to do it. I was 12 (im 13 now), im sure you'll figure it out, but it could take a while. No it won't break or anything. I use sports tampons for swimming. Just be patient w/ it. Ask your mom about it too. She'll explain it better.
Nope, sorry, I've never used them.
try playtex sport the ad says game time anytime

You hardly ever need a college education for any job in journalism. But you will probably be competing with people who do have degrees.

What the worst parenting advice you have ever heard?

Not necessarily given to you but just in general have you ever heard about. the worst or oddest i heard was to starighten out babys feet put there shoes on opposite feet. What the worst parenting advice you have ever heard?
    Let the kids decide....

They are *kids*! Parents are supposed to protect their kids from bad decisions!!!! Parents can *help* their kids make important decisions, but they don't just let the kids decide and let it go!What the worst parenting advice you have ever heard?
I actually know someone who was told by the dr to put their child's shoes on the wrong feet bc it would help with pigeon toes and that if that worked the child wouldn't have to have surgery. Well guess what, it did work and it corrected their pigeon toes and yeah the child didn't have to have surgery!!!! So don't knock bad advice!!! Yeah I can understand getting upset over things like telling people not to breastfeed, etc, but some things are really helpful!!!
Let her/him cry it out so they can't manipulate you.

The idiot Einstein at Columbia University who came up with this Ferber trash is hopefully being entertained in a torture cell in hell right now. So many linear parents bought this trash.

Babies do not have object permanance until about 12-18 months old depending upon their development, and that is only the 'normal' range. If an object or person does not exist out of site or touch for these helpless little babes; then Ferberizing, or letting them scream for help for hours is just sick and twisted control freaks hurting babies.

I hope he's learning that no one is going to answer his screams.
I think the worst was a 'friend' turned around and told me to drink a couple of pints of beer before breast feeding my 2 day old son as it will 'knock' him straight out, then she went on to say how it works for her daughter and she does it nearly everyday, funnily enough I don't speak to her now and I never did take her advice.
My parents were quite fond of the ';walk-it-off'; theory of parenting when we got hurt. Now I have a loosened ligament in my ankle, some sort of bizarre arthritis in that ligament, and a permanent chipped fracture w/part of my bone still floating around somewhere.
    Wow, that is bad!

I still think ';Crying is good for a baby. It clears her lungs'; is one of the top offenders--Clears her lungs of WHAT?! Air? So strange.

    *Well, to the thumbs-downers:

Seriously, what is being cleared out of her lungs?

(And this is not referring to when they're first born, but to older babies.)
A friend of mine told me I shouldn't hold my baby so much because she would get ';spoiled';. She said her mother always told her that. Her mother, I might add, was a dead alcoholic by that time.

My daughter turned out great. Her sons, on the other hand, are rebellious demons now.
I'm not sure if its advice, but my sister in law tells her son that he has to eat to feed the worms in his stomach or the worms will eat him. I would never say that to a kid, if my mom told me that I would have freaked out!
I've heard a lot of bad advice, but the one that sticks out in my head at the moment was when my cousins kid started a biting stage, she told me if your kid ever bites, you bite them back really hard to teach them not to bite.
I had a neighbour once who gave me her solution to a colicky baby. She said ';just give him a dose of gavol and he'll sleep all night!';. HORRIBLE!!!!

Drugging a baby! I thought she was nuts!
To let my 2 month old cry himself back to sleep in the middle of the night.. Seriously if you ferberize your infant, you should be SHOT. If your baby is crying- PICK THEM UP!!! FEED THEM!!!... if you can't deal with some sleepless nights, don't have kids, please.
Any parenting advice that seems extreme, I would say. I can't pinpoint any particularly bad parenting advice. Maybe just when people brag about their children and say that yours should be doing more than what they are doing as far as developmentally?
';Don't breastfeed.'; My aunt actually told me that formula is better than breastmilk and that only lazy parents breastfeed. I thought that was terrible advice! So I breastfed for a year.
Ive heard to make your baby's eyes a light color, when they are about a month old, put a drop of lemon in each eye.

    That's is crazy!!
To put your baby on their stomach for the first few months because it's comfortable for the baby
the worst advice i ever heard is to put your baby outside in the sun for 5 minutes a day so that they get vitamin d that they need...crazy!!
I would have to say have a young baby (less than say 6 months old) CIO to get them to go to sleep.
Let babies cry it out in the middle of the night....
Put lemon juice in your babys eye!

    How terrible!
To spank a baby if they bite you! Thats just awfull.
rice in th ebottle to make them sleep better!
all the advice from people whith no children who think they know it all and are very judgemental

What is the best advice you can give me now that my dog is in heat?

besides to make sure she stays away from male dogsWhat is the best advice you can give me now that my dog is in heat?
She may need some extra pampering, mine gets a little clingy and follows me everywhere, but the heat only lasts around 3 weeks so it won't be long before she's back to normal, and you already know to keep her away from boy dogs, that's probably the main thing you need to do, they're sneaky little buggers and will do their best to get to her!

If you want to avoid this in the future you could get her spayed, but obviously that's your decision. What is the best advice you can give me now that my dog is in heat?
Make sure your gate is firmly closed!
never take her outside without a leash, get her one of those diapers so you don't have mess everywhere, get her spayed about one month after her cycle ends.
get her spayed... they can do it while shes in heat, i just costs a bit more. getting her spayed when shes young decreases the risk of certain cancers and unwanted pregnancy
Keep your gate closed (if she play in the backyard). Or she might run away for some romance.
make sure shes away from pillows too

well thats what my dog did when there wasn't a male dog around lol
To make very sure that she does not have any opportunity to get away from you as she is no longer your loving dog but rather a creature that just needs to find a male and I mean right now.....

If they can get away they will not hesitate and dont let her lay her scent on the boundaries of your property as this will attract males and once they have the scent they wont go away till they get what they want even if it means scaling a 6 foot fence.

Has anyone had a breast reduction? Can you give me some advice or feedback?

I'm waiting on insurance to approve it and wanted some info. Thanks!Has anyone had a breast reduction? Can you give me some advice or feedback?
I had one February 2006 and the only regret is not getting it done sooner!

My back pain, shoulder pain, and neck pain that I had with my 38J cup boobs, GONE! Now I have perky 38C's and my fiance LOVES them!!

Insurance companies are different, so they can cover anywhere from 50-100% of the cost (mine covered all $8,000 of my breast reduction). I did not have to lose weight, they only had a gram requirement (600 total grams). The PS took off 2000 grams!!! (or five pounds)

Make sure you see at least three PS's before deciding. I ended up going with the second PS I saw. Check out their before/after pics, and find out how long after the procedure the after pics are.

Take off at least two weeks of work, more if you are in a physically active position. You will be on light duty for about a month, or at least until the incisions are completely closed up. Then you can start using ScarGuard or Mederma on your incisions (scars can take at least a year to fade, so do not put them in the sun for at least a year or they will turn permanently red!).

Final size can also take at least a year. PATIENCE is the key word to this recovery. Do not expect your final size right away. Your breasts will also be looking ugly for a few months due to the bruising and swelling.

A site that helped me out TONS before and after surgery is:

http://www.breasthealthonline.comHas anyone had a breast reduction? Can you give me some advice or feedback?
Listen Girl...if u want ur **** 2 get big...no need for that crap....just play with ur boobs everyday..and you'll see the changes
    no.
no need to do that.just play with ur ****** everyday and ask ur bf or husband to play with it. it will surely help u.just see the result slowly.
    hi there,

yes i had a breast reduction 10 years ago. and i am very happy with the results. why don't you go to plastic surgery.com and click on breast reduction to see the before and after photos. there will be some scarring but they go away after a few years. it is definitely invasive and you will be sore for a few weeks, but it really does make a big difference in how you look and feel about yourself. if you are unhappy with the way you look then the reduction is the way to go.

i wish you the best of luck and may God bless and keep you safe during your surgery
The surgery is very invasive and leaves lots of scarring. The breast are lifted by cutting skin and tissue out of the body. When the skin and tissue are removed the nipple is moved by cutting the nipple out of the skin and replacing it to the new position. The scar goes across the mid-drift of the body and around the nipple down to the mid-drift. A support bra is recommended even after healing.

  • Does anyone have any advice for winning on Mario Kart DS? If it involves snaking, could you explain some tips?

I know snaking can be very helpful, but I always ram into a wall right before I let go of the turbo button or fall into a pit of lava right after.Does anyone have any advice for winning on Mario Kart DS? If it involves snaking, could you explain some tips?
EDIT: Beware! what was a Short Answer has evolved into a Wall of Text! The following Wall of Text will critical hit you for 20 000 damage!

You can beat it with very few snakes, i have myself. If you arent very good at it, do it only on straightaways or big smooth curves. Also i found it very easy and necessary to snake a u-turn. If you are crashing into walls, it is either because of:

    a) Not snaking fast enough

    b) Not aiming your snakes

If you are taking to long to complete a snake, then you need to practice your hand speed. You just have to keep practicing.

It is important to realize that you must turn during a snake almost all of the time. Always aim yourself towards the inner wall if you are turning around a corner. And you can turn more or less during a snake by holding either of the directions longer.

Edit* Furthermore, if you can't snake a turn, take the shortest path possible. The AI always average the middle of the track, and lose valuable time. Also use items ASAP, if you get triple bananas, hold L and keep it behind you, it can take out people who are trying to pass you and saves you from green and red shells. IMO they are better than spinning shells.

Pick a good handling car, they pwn. And also stay in second place as, incase you dont know, the items you get depend on your position. You can easily get red shells in second and you dont get pwned by blue shells if you dont know how to dodge them. If you are first and a blue shell is about to hit you, slow down to get close to whoever is in second so the explosion hits them.Does anyone have any advice for winning on Mario Kart DS? If it involves snaking, could you explain some tips?
snaking is your best friend. but other than that dont go for characters with top speed if you're still hitting walls. try some with more top end acceleration like shy guy or the bone turtle guy or an overall like yoshi. while snaking just hit left right left right, that should get you to the turbo boost. Also while snaking if you push away from the drift then you will drift less in that direction and same goes when you push towards it. once you get better you should try heavy characters such as bowser which pushes everyone out of his way. and at the start just in case you dont know about the boost, at the count down, when the 2 enlarges and is about to switch to 1, start to accelerate, you will get a boost from start which will quickly put you ahead. best spots to be in in the races, 6/7 for variety of weapons, 2 because of red shells, 1 because you can get away from all other racers. I get no less than 2 star ratings in every cup except maybe 1 or 2 which i get 1 star or A.

Need advice about changing careers. How do you narrow down what it is that you want to do?

Currently I am a Realtor. This is a new career for me as I am trained a lawyer and recently left the active practice. So far this does not seem to be a good fit. I am exploring what would be a good fit. Any suggestions about narrowing down would be helpful.Need advice about changing careers. How do you narrow down what it is that you want to do?
There are tests you can do free online to see what your personality would match. If you liked being a lawyer, why did you leave? If not, decide what you did and didn't like about the job and look/don't look for those traits in other jobs. i.e. if you didn't like working with people, don't go after sales jobs, etc... You'll find something you're truly happy with! Just keep at it!!!Need advice about changing careers. How do you narrow down what it is that you want to do?
Quit being so nit picky. You made good money as a lawyer, so go back to it and stop complaining. Life is to short to bounce back and forth. Just do what you can and make your life after work the one that fits and rewards you.
Ur question reminds me of my decision making days about my career.

Career planning is a continuous development process through which we attempt to understand our personal, family, school, work and community experiences and the significance they are likely to have in building career and choice of lifestyle. We need to identify opportunities and to identify options. We need to examine our personal interests and skills as they relate to a variety of career opportunities to help us make appropriate and realistic decisions. Keep in mind that the goal of exploring career is not just employment but a purposeful of integrating our personal interests and values with the kinds of work that are most satisfying for us.

What age was you when you settled down and had children any advice for me plz?

I am 19 and my partner is 20 we have been together nearly 2 %26amp; half years now we both have full time jobs and we are just preparing to move out and get our own place next year....

I do want a baby but not yet just need some advice really....

How old was you when you first settled down and had children! and are you glad you did it at that age? also have you got any advice for me ...

    Thank you all xx

What age was you when you settled down and had children any advice for me plz?
i met my hubb at 26.

    moved in at 32.

had r first babe at 32.

age dont matter its how you feel.

some people r made for each other b it 19 or 29.

What age was you when you settled down and had children any advice for me plz?
I was 25 when my daughter was born. Her father and I had been together since we were 18, and had married 18 months before she was born. Our son followed 3 1/2 years later.

We took a lot of stick for starting our family so soon, but felt that it was the right thing to do as we had the energy to put into a family AND by the time the kids had grown up and started wanting to do their own thing we would still be young enough to enjoy our lives together too.

I think the important thing is to start when you are both happy to do so - regardless of what other people may think or say it's your life! Also, you hear a lot of people saying ';we'll start a family when we can afford it'; - you can't budget for children!

I wish you both the very best of luck xx

I met my bf in january, we were living togethr by march and i fell pregnant in june, I was 16 (17 when i had him) at the time which here in Australia is the consenting age.

We stayed together, got a better house and car and had our 2nd child a month before i turned 19, then we got engaged and had our 3rd baby 5 months ago..I just turned 22 and we will have been together for 6 years in january =D I know i was young but i don't regret it one bit, I now have 3 beautiful little munchkins that i 鈾?to death!
I started dating my current spouse when I was 18, but didn't get married until I was 25 and didn't have kids until we were both 29. I'm very glad we timed it the way we did. Because we did it that way, we had time to finish school (and grad school), get good work experience, do some traveling, and save enough money so that we could buy a house and afford our kids. After having been together more than a decade, we were also sure we were a stable couple and really ready to raise kids together. And it certainly worked out for us. We now have four kids, a great house, and have been married almost 14 years.
Well, I鈥檓 26 now and my fiance and I have been ttc for the last 8 months. Wer have been together 5 years though, lived together for 3 and a half of those and we got our 1st mortgage a year ago. I think you moving in with your bf is great but seriously, give it 2 years of living together before you start thinking about kids. I was with my ex for nearly 3 years (we split when I was 21) and i'm just thankful we never had any kids. You find a lot more out about a person when you live with them.
I had my babes at 18, knew my partner for almost 6 years and it didnt work, it happens, anyhoo.

I would suggest what things are important to you?

Marriage, a home of your own, good jobs for the both of you, a car for both of you, be able to afford a child?

All these things i mentioned above is a pretty good start up point, if you can reach all these goals then go for it.

Just know that having a child is a luxury!
I settled down and started having my children young. I have four wonderful little rascals now. I would not trade them for anything in the world. But my advice to you is wait a couple years at least you guys are just getting you own place together just enjoy each other for a while. Your only 19 and 20 enjoy going out traveling and spending time with just each other till your at least twenty five.
met my now wife when i was 17,moved in together 19,married 22,1st child at 24, 2nd child at 31!

there's pros and cons for both arguments and it really depends on the individual.some would say u miss out on fun when you're young, but at 24 i'd sure had my fair share of fun,and now thinking that when my youngest hits her teens and they start getting more independant, doing more with they're friends than parents i'll only be early forties,so wife and i will start getting more and more us time from then on till they eventually leave home then the worlds our oyster for many more years to come.hope u make the decision that's correct for you!!
I started dating my hubby when I was 18, he was 19. We got married when I was 26 and had our first baby when I was 28. I'm glad we waited because we had so much time for just us. Then when we found out we were pregnant it wasn't a huge shock for us. We had had time to experience things together...now we have an almost 8 month old daughter and are experiencing so many more things as a family!
Everyone is different when they want kids or are stable enough to have them. I had my daughter at 22 my partner was 23 we have been together for nearly 7 years. She was not planned but i wouldn't change my life for anything in the world. One thing i find hard is we don't have our own house (which i wish we did but in time we will save and buy our own) and money is a big thing.. that babies always needs stuff!
I was engaged at 21. Thank god it didn't happen - I'd have been divorced within months. You'll change beyond all recognition in your 20s and my advice is not to rush it. I eventually married (someone else) at 29 and had my children when I was 31 and 32. We've now been married 12 years and I've not one single regret.
hey honey, i honestly would wait. think about it. you are a child for such a short time, then you get your young years (20's) after that it is adult hood. 30,40,50,60 + you are an adult seems like way longer than a young woman, so i would suck up all the youngness, energy while you have it. i am not saying you are not an adult you just have so much time being older. i married at 27. i am glad i waited. enjoy life, travel if you can save lots of money and get married, take a college course, what ever you want. then when its time start having kids. anyway that is my advise to you. i am 40 now and have 4 children we are adopting and i have had them for 3 years. i think 40 may be a bit old for starting to have kids. but i am doing it. :)
i plan on waiting till im around 30. im 23 now and many of me friends have had kids in the past few years. all they do now is complain about how they cant do anything fun and how they never have enough money. im waiting till ive been married for a handful of years, have established my career, and have a few thousand dollars in savings.
I had a child at 16 but thiis wasn't planned.

At 20 I settled down, got engaged and we're expecting our first child together in 2 weeks.

I think all I can say is only you know when it feels right and when you want to have kids. When it's right good luck, you will love them!
I got married at 18 many moons ago, and had my first child when I was 23. Looking back now 18 was too young, and if I had my time again, I would travel, and do all the things that you can't do when you have a family.

When you have kids you are allways spending out for them.
I moved in with my then 23 yr old partner at 17, and fell pregnant, had the baby at 18, we were both working full time. Had my second child at 19, and chucked him out 3 months later.

Now I'm with my baby's daddy and Im 20 on Sunday. It was far, far, faaaar too early.
I married at 16(did not have to) and I had 5 children by the time I was 21.I love all my children but I was too young to get married. You loose out on a lot of things and can't do it over.Be financially and mentally ready.Children cost more money now than then.I wish you both luck.
I was 17 when I met my now Husband. Moved in with him at 19 (250 miles away from home, now live in Edinburgh) Had my beautiful little girl almost 2 years ago. Got married 15 Weeks ago, and I'm now 24. I wouldnt change anything for the world.
I got with my partner when i was 19 we lived together three years before deciding on a family, i would say live with each other for a while first they always say you never really know someone until you have lived with them ..and its very true x
I got married and had my first at 19...He wasn't planned, but I couldn't have loved being pregnant or love him anymore if I planned it for 1000 years!!! Looking back, I was young, I'm divorced now, but I wouldn't change it for anything!!
i met my hubby when we wer 17 and we had our first child at 19 (quick i know) but we have been together for nearly 11 years now and have 4 children and still happy.

just wait untill you are both ready!
We met at 18, got married at 20 had our first at 22, second at 25 and third is due in January (I'll be 26)

Couldn't be happier with my hubby and girls :)
I met my husband when I was 23, we moved in together when I was 24, got married when I was 25 and now expecting our first child, due in June 2009 when I will be 26! Phew, a busy few years!

As for the advice - when I was 19 I had been with my ex for 2 and a half years like you and we were planning to move in together. In the end we were together for 6 and a half years but we never did move in and it all fell apart. At the time I was devastated but looking back I am so glad because now that I ma older I can see that I was far too young to be that commited and settled. I used to hate being told by other people we were too young for our big plans because I felt so grown up! It's only now that I can look back and say, ';yep, they were all right!'; So think very carefully. You may love your boyfriend very much and be financially ready for the commitment of a home together. But 19 is still young, despite how much you may dislike hearing it... with age comes wisdom!

Can you give some advice about an application that I'm working on?

I'm filling out an application for Starbucks and theres a question that ask ';Why would you like to work for Starbucks Coffee Company?'; What could I say that wouldn't sound feigned or cheesy? Can you give some advice about an application that I'm working on?
I would enjoy working with the public in a fast-paced environment.

Can you give me advice on moving into a new home (townhome)?

How do I go about cleaning and maintaining the home on my first day of moving in? How do I go about meeting my neighbors? Should I have the locks changed? Can you give me advice on moving into a new home (townhome)?
    I always change the locks.

The neighbors you will run into because everyone is watching you move in.

As far as cleaning, you should do that before things are moved in.Can you give me advice on moving into a new home (townhome)?
if u'r looking on cleaning... clean out the drawers/ cabinets %26amp; lay contact paper or rubbermaid makes new shelf liner stuff which would protect everything. Then u can load u'r dishes/ etc on u'r lst DAY after u have moved everything.

Don't worry so mch about cleaning everything up b/c u will have accumlated enuff from moving. get some items settled lst then worry about that later. Make sure u can fill u'r drawers %26amp; closet... make u'r bed... wash out the sink %26amp; mayb shower/tub.... toliet... then start slowly unloading the rest. Hopefully, u can get whoever or however helping u to move to place u'r furniture in the place u want it.

If u'r purchasing u'r house thru a realitor then the locks should b changed but ask %26amp; u could do so esp. if u didn't get all the keys.

Then after u have gotten settled... u can go %26amp; greet u'r neighbors. If u want, u could meet them at their door %26amp; intro u'rself or invite them over for a little dessert.

    have fun...
Well what you should do is vacuum the carpets and wash the windows. Mop the tile if there is any. Then move everything in and unpack. Have a house warming party with a bunch of your friends and invite your neighbors too. Yes, you should definately change the locks. It is a lot safer then just having the originals on. I hope this helped. Good luck.

What piece of advice would you like to share?

What advice or philosophy would you like to share with everyone? Or what do you wish everyone knew? What piece of advice would you like to share?
This is a very deep question or can be-

But I feel ';Be yourself,'; really covers alot. From that many others good things happen. What piece of advice would you like to share?
You can't always get what you want.

But sometimes, you get what you need.
If you don't use your head.... you might as well have two butts
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

I think people would get into fewer fights and pickles and there would be less pain in the world if they would really try to imagine how others with whom they're interacting feel. It takes imagination but has great rewards.
Take things easy and don't stess over things. Deal with what is priority at the moment and move on to the next one thing at the time. Then accept people for who and how they are and deal with them accordingly.
take chances always. you don't want to be 30 wishing ';i wish i would have done (insert activity, or talking to a girl, or whatever here) that in high-school.
    don't assume things.

  • Is anyone else going through a pregnancy alone and what advice do you have?

I would just try to surround myself with as many family and friends as possible. If that isn't possible maybe you could go out and just meet some people. Just to get to know some people in person. My husband has been on a deployment in afghanistan the whole time I've been pregnant. Also, these message boards help alot! Even though you're not talking to people in person, you can really vent and ask any questions that you may need answered. Is anyone else going through a pregnancy alone and what advice do you have?
You are not alone, you have a little person growing inside of you that is going through this with you! Remember, he or she has never been a baby before and has no expectations of what will happen.

Keep your body as healthy as possible, you will both feel better for it, and wrap your mind around the fact that you will be tired, frustrated, unsure and feel the most intense emotions of your life as far as being protective and fiercely loving this tiny person.

Gather as much info as you can on childcare, support, and maybe a group to join that is going through what you are. It can be done and is all the time, and for the fears and what ifs that keep circling in your head, call your doctor or write them down in a journal depending on what they are.

Drink lots of water it will help flush your system out. Coast Guard is a great career. I'm enlisted so I can't give you any advice about coming in as an officer but good luck in doing it.
Slowly increase the distance you are running each day and like someone else said work on your swimming .
I would talk with a Recruiter. They can give you an idea about basic training and what skills you may need to improve on in the short term.

What do you advice me to major in?web security manager or network administrator?

what do you advice me to major in?web security manager or network administrator?

what exactly does a web security manager do?What do you advice me to major in?web security manager or network administrator?
Web security manager is more speciallized and if you can find a job doing it, it will likely pay more than a standard network admin job. Both are fun to a certain extent, but like anything you do for a living it becomes a job. The only real question that you should be asking yourself is. Which of these would I enjoy doing more?

A web security manager is basically a ';white hat'; hacker someone that knows the inside and out of security systems and different protocols so that they can prevent, track, and repair any damage that ';black hat'; hackers may inflict on their computer network. They also make sure things like SSL certificates are up to date, and that all antivirus, anti-malware, and other monitoring software is installed and correctly operational. What do you advice me to major in?web security manager or network administrator?
I assume keeps up the security of a web site or sites. Id say major in which ever one is more enjoyable to you. I would assume the web security would be more challenging especially since security is always a prime concern with everybody. GL

Can you give advice to a bisexual?

I am bisexual, and I told my friends this on a night out. Now, everybody knows about it and the boys won't go for me and neither will the girls! What can I do?

I tried to get off with someone last week and when somebody I know told her and she got scared and said that she couldn't trust me. I don't want to just be able to be in homosexual relationships but it seems like it can be my only option in life! And I certainly don't want that. Can you give advice to a bisexual?
I'm sorry to hear about that.

Your friends were not very supportive and it was not necessary to go telling other people. Friends should be friends unconditionally - unconditional friendship.

It sounds like you need new friends.

You'll meet new friends and people will be more understanding. Of course, the gay scene might be more open to bisexuals than the mainstream scene. (I know on here lots of people post saying how anti-bisexuals the gay scene is, but I've not every found that - at least not London.)

    Best wishes.

    Nick

:)Can you give advice to a bisexual?
Deffinately sounds like you need new friends, your friends will always love you and accept you, for the girls being scared its not a suprise not all of them will be comfortable around you thinking you maybe into them. But forget them all live your life and find your parter, boy or girl who ever makes you happiest.
How about advice from a bisexual?

Its not your only option, but you have to come to terms with the fact that a lot of people will not understand your bisexuality. Believe me. You have to learn how to answer questions that people will direct you, or the comments you will get. If you need any more support, there are bisexual support communities, shybi (for women) and shybi-guys (well, for guys).
I'm Bisexual and all my friends know i am. I have been in plenty of realtionships with the poeple knowing about my sexuality. I can't help but notice these people you call friends may not be that if they have the nerve to spread around your sexual orientation. Now same sex realtionships are great but boy and girl are good too. Now be yourself and if they have a problem with your sexuality they have a problem with you. What gets me is people think Bisexuals may dump a guy for a girl or viceversa but what about same sex realtionships or boy and girl they could break up to date someone else so dont just point the finger at BISEXUALS people. I hope i helped sweetie xx
Oh no! that's an awful first reaction, I feel for you. I thought when I came out to my family and friends that they would all be really happy for me but I got a bad reaction too. Nobody was very keen on my news at all, and I haven't really had a relationship since (though it's only been a few months).

All I can say is well done for telling your friends - that is a brave thing to do and probably several notches up the maturity scale than a lot of them are. I think that's probably why they are finding it hard to understand, they don't really understand their own sexualities yet, I bet.

Maybe you can look further afield when searching for a partner, until you find someone understanding that you like.

What you did was brave. Well done!
Give it time, and your friends will realise you are still the same person you always were. I think you may find that if you are open with potential partners about your bisexuality, you'll find that very few women will have a problem. If you keep it a secret you are bound to have problems if a partner finds you've been keeping things from them. that's when issues of trust may arise.
Just because the people you are currently hanging around with are struggling to come to terms with it does not mean you have to change yourself. Meet new people who will not even know that you are bisexual you do not have your friends blurting it at them which is likely to scare most people you meet first off.
its kind of hard to be in a relationship with bisexuals because theres always that ';what if';. what if you leave that person for the other sex. i personally dont like to date bisexuals for that reason. but i guess you just have to find someone that is bisexual as well. good luck
LET THIS BE A LESSON TO U .....U DON'T HAVE TO TELL EVERYONE EVERYTHING ABOUT URSELF..O AND BY THE WAY HOW DID U KNOW U CUD TRUST HER IT WORKS BOTH WAYS JUST LIKE U (I'M SORRY I JUST THOUGHT OF THAT) THOSE SO CALLED FREINDS R IDIOTS IT'S A GUD THANG UR NOT GONNA BE STUCK WITH THEM FOREVER ....AND THIS ''DON'T WANT THAT THING'' I SUGGEST U GET OVER IT AS IT'S ALWAYS GONNA BE THERE WEATHER U LIKE IT OR NOT
Unfortunately there are still small minded people out in the world but don't mind them I'm sure you'll find an open minded person who will except you for who you are, just like I have
this isnt something u just randomly tell people hon. You shouldnt have told any1 because people can be so cruel sometimes. I have some close friends who I will never tell that Im bi...ever....people just love gossip!
    They are friends?

Just chill, the right person will come along for yo one day, but perhaps getting a new social circle would not go amiss also contact a LG BT group, you will meet all sorts there!
it is not your only option, be yourself. it sounds like you need new people to hang around.

Do you have any tips for staying in shape? any advice to keep me going?

just bored, and was wondering what you do to keep it up!Do you have any tips for staying in shape? any advice to keep me going?
I like circuit training... using different weights and objects for resistance training and mix a little cardio in between exercises. It keeps your heart rate up the whole time and builds muscle which burns fat. I've noticed a huge difference in my body after I added strength %26amp; resistance training. You can use free weights or your own body weight. One place my friend and I go workout is a local playground, preferably one that's not covered in kids :) and use the playground equipment for pullups, pushups, jumping on things, step ups, etc. Another thing that has really helped my body change and give me energy are these great products made by AdvoCare. I've been working out for years and have lost more weight in the past few months than I have ever before. here's the link. https://www.advocare.com/0904625/default鈥?/a> Let me know if you have any questions. :)Do you have any tips for staying in shape? any advice to keep me going?
listen to someone Else's ipod the new music will give you different paces wile your working out and it will give you new motivation i love doing this its so interesting not only to see your difference but what your friends listen too

Do you give advice you would never use if you where in the same situation?

';What one does not wish for oneself, one ought not to do to anyone else; what one recognises as desirable for oneself, one ought to be willing to grant to others.'; -Confucius.

i think this applies to your question. i mean, if you weren't willing to do something, why would you tell someone else to do it?Do you give advice you would never use if you where in the same situation?
no, thats pretty sadistic, don' t you think?Do you give advice you would never use if you where in the same situation?
No. well, if a girl says that she wants to dye her hair blonde and asks for a product, i'll recomend one even though in the same sit i would never dye my hair blonde.

but no. i would never do that.
I don't give advice at all. I'm too afraid I'll give peoplebad advice and screw things up even more.
I feel like I give good advice that I would use myself. Good advice does not get you the ';best answer'; because sometimes it is an unpopular answer. But- I have to be truthful. I may change someone's life for the good.
The advice that I give is based on my own past experiences, things that I have heard from others that worked, and advice that I have read. No two people are the same, and what works for you wouldn't necessarily work for me. Yes I would take my own advice, otherwise I would view myself as a liar.
    In a heart beat.
i usually take my own advice in SOME situations.
definitely, it's a lot easier to tell someone else to do it, rather than doing it yourself
well if it were a totally different person that has a total different life than u and not a care in the world- possibly.
ummm sometimes! But I try not too. It all depends because everyone is in a certain position so one answer wont benifit all

  • What advice would you give a young person starting his/her first small business?

My advice is to thoroughly understand what you will be getting into -- and that means researching as much as you can about the particular business you want to start, and what to expect as an entrepreneur.

Define your business first. What do you want to do? Make a list of possible businesses you can develop and write the pros and cons of each. Clarify your business model.

Check the feasibility of the business idea. Is it workable? Given your resources, do you think there's a chance?

Once you've determined exactly what business to start, research about the business -- how much will it take you to start the business, what do you need, who are doing it, who is your target market, how are you going to reach your market. This is your business plan. It is best to put it in writing, especially if you will be seeking loans or investors as they will require a business plan

I suggest you read the following books as well. Borrow them from your library or buy them from your favorite bookstore

    one word---- execute.

you can sit and talk and plan all you want, but until you execute your business, you wont put the wheels in motion.

you could always make adjustments as you go. my friends always talk about starting businesses, but they dont put it in motion. BEST of Luck!!!!!!
    do inteligently and genuine
Get enough money and adapt the plans as you go. Of course you need to think of the plan before hand but you can't think of everything, so adapt.

What advice would you give to McCain to improve his campaign?

Be pro-active instead of reactive to Obama's successes. Do something original- perhaps a tour of Asia and meeting with the Dalai Lama, posing for pictures, speaking at Tien an Mien Square in China surrounded by 200 people. Oh, make sure he pays the salary of all the media members who might be unwilling to accompany him on the trip, etc, etc,.... anything original and creative.

That will quite a change from their playing cards at their office and waiting to pounce on Obama.

Best answer? What advice would you give to McCain to improve his campaign?
There's nothing he can do in this atmosphere. The world hates Republicans, they love pop stars, and the media isn't showing him. McCain is not doing anything wrong and there's nothing anyone can do about it. It's the world we live in.

This will be our first 'global presidential election' where the the world will strongly influence Americans about their choice. You can see writing on the wall, Comrade. What advice would you give to McCain to improve his campaign?
obamacain need to plan strategic wardrobe malfunctions at the debates if they intend to endear themselves to the 3% of Americans dense enough to still believe there's any power in that office. It was specifically designed as a figure-head position and little else.

    ...
Considering the media is boycotting him, I think he's doing pretty good. He should just continue doing what he is doing and I think he will win this horse race.

It reminds me of the 'Tortoise and the Hare' story.

  • What advice can you give me about why my puppy wont poop on the wee wee pad...Thanks,Chris~?

My opinion on puppy pads is don't use em, they are a bad idea for training. He will think he can go inside all the time.

Take him outside to go potty every two hours and after he eats and drinks. Thats how I trained my pups, my first dog use puppy pads and he still occasionally goes inside and he is now 6 years old. It was the worst idea ever. What advice can you give me about why my puppy wont poop on the wee wee pad...Thanks,Chris~?
Since wee wee pads are so expensive some owners don't change them as often and puppies don't like to set their feet on something wet or damp. I'm an advocate of newspapers and cheaper too. for some reason the pups love the absorbing factor when you place 3-4 layers placed on the floor.no need to add anything they will be attracted to it by nature.i trained one time 17 pups and by the time they were 6-8wks they were going to their new homes potty trained!!!!What advice can you give me about why my puppy wont poop on the wee wee pad...Thanks,Chris~?
there is a liquid you adminiter in drops that you can put on the ';pad'; that indicates by smell where the proper place to urinate or deficate is.
I'm having this same problem. My yorkie will pee on it all day, but refuses to poop on it. I'm still not sure why.

If you could give one special piece of advice to a first time parent, what would it be?

Doing a little project, Being a first time parent can be very intimidating. There always something we learn along the way that no one told us before hand. What would your one piece of advice be?If you could give one special piece of advice to a first time parent, what would it be?
Children are the greatest gift from God. Greater than anything else ever! Life doesn't stop when you become a parent... life is just beginning. I only say this because when my husband and I started to try to have a baby, people kept saying that we need to wait. They all said life is not going to be the same after you bring a baby into the world. You know what, they were partially right. They told me I needed to live life first and then become a parent. Being a parent is where life begins in my opinion. I love my little girl so much. She has really brought so much joy to our lives. I don't know what we would be doing without her.

As far as products: cloth diapers were the greatest invention ever. Don't use them on the babies bottoms, use them as burp cloths. If you could give one special piece of advice to a first time parent, what would it be?
Take a parenting class. Being a mother is NOT instinctive...we have lost our instincts eons ago. How a mother/father acts is learned - good or bad. If married or partnered, be sure that both parties attend. You will learn tips and developmental information that you could not know otherwise.

If you were abused/neglected, also go into therapy. Even if you have had therapy before, having a baby can trigger memories that you thought were long resolved.

Being a parent is not difficult, once you have the information you need to have a happy child. It's no longer about your pleasure; it's about raising a child properly.
    ';Turn around and you're two,

    Turn around and you're four,

    Turn around, you're a man

    Walking out of my door.';

    ................from ';Sunrise, Sunset';

    It's true, too true.....
I would tell all parents to get their kids on a schedule. It is not hard if you began when they are still infants. Once they get the rythm of going to bed at the same time everyday; by time they are toddlers they will automatically began to fall a sleep at what ever time you asign them. I am a mother of four and all my kids are asleep by 8:30 not going to bed, but fast asleep. It gives me the rest of the evening with my husband. During the day make sure you keep them very busy with activities; not tv.
Have a sense of humour. Teach your child to find humour in everything. That way no matter what your child is up against in life he/she can deal with the situation easily.
Take time to hold listen touch embrace your child , love ...
No matter how frustrated you get (and you will get frustrated) just remember that you will love them more the next day, and even more the next day. Kids do things that aggrevate us, but they don't do it just to aggrevate us (especially the young ones) Good Luck!
I did read your additional details but my advice would be:

Go with your gut instinct and forget what other people say. Everyone gives you their opinions once you have a baby and some shove it down your throat. Do what you feel is right and do not let them get to you. I did what I thought was right but let others opinions and comments eat at me, now I do not and my kids are 6 and 8, I wish I could have taken the attitude of not letting it get to me much sooner.

That goes with doctors to, if something feels wrong push it, or get a second opinion. My daughter was not feeling good when she was 5 weeks and a Dr. said oh you just a first time mom and dismissed us, I knew something was wrong but did not know what, 2 days later she was airlifted to a nearby children's hospital.

My gut instincts have not let me down when I have followed them.
I wish people told me to:

-give warm milk, reduces long nights of crying. supposedly cool milk causes gas in babies.

-after burping, have her sit in her carseat for 20 min so she can digest, makes parents and baby happier

    - get a rocking chair. told my mother in law no i didnt want one and she gave it to me anyway. cant imagine surviving this long with out it ( baby is 4 mo. now). swing probably works but usually baby likes to be rocked by someone instead of being alone. both works though

-try to give her bath in the evening so she sleeps longer during night time

    - have her in your room first couple of months, my daughter has choked on her vomit many time and if i wasnt there then probably SIDS could have occurred

-have done a lot of research, avent bottles are the best. closest to the feeling of mother feeding the baby

cant think of anymore now but those are my top advice for a first time parent, hope this helps
Choose your battles. Certain things are not worth getting upset about while others definitely are. It makes for a much calmer household.

One more: don't always say NO. Most parents find that as the thing that comes out of their mouths the most. It's OK to say yes somtimes. That too makes for a much happier, calmer household.
Enjoy every moment of their child hood, for tomorrow they will be adults.

I am going to the velodrome for the first time ever. Can you give me some advice?

I am a little bit scared, but more importantly, what is the appropriate attire and do you have some general advice? THANKS!I am going to the velodrome for the first time ever. Can you give me some advice?
If you're going to be at the track with some one who is experienced, listen and ask lots of questions. Riding a fixed gear bike on the velodrome is a lot different from riding a road bike--the difference is much greater than the difference between a road bike and a mountain bike or BMX.

It's a good idea to wear cycling shorts and a jersey or some comfortable shirt. Because of the banked surface and the fixed gear, it will feel very different than a normal bike (unless you've ridden a fixed gear before) so you probably won't stand up on the bike as much. As a result, wearing comfortable cycling shorts will help a lot after you've been sitting down for a while on the bike.

Before you even get on the bike, pay attention to how others get on and off the track, and where they ride when on the infield. Because there aren't brakes on a track bike, you need to be aware of where to expect riders so you don't end up standing right where people roll on/off the track and get hit.

If you're not familiar with riding a fixed gear bike, first practice speeding up and slowing down on the bike before getting on the track. This way you'll get familiar with what it's like to ride a fixed gear and control your speed just using the pedals. Do a few short, hard accelerations followed by a quick deceleration until you start to get the feel of it.

If the banking on the velodrome is steep, you will have to make sure that you going quickly and pedaling hard through the turns every lap. It is better to go a little faster than needed than to go too slow on a steep track and slide off the track (it happens--usually someone hits their pedal, then falls and slides down). Just keep pedaling hard in the corners and you'll be fine.

A few details to know. Usually riders stay in the middle of the track when just riding steady--this is the blue line. The bottom of the track (sprinters lane--black line to red line) is for riding fast, so stay out this area unless you're sprinting or riding with a group. Similarly, the very top of the track is usually for riders winding up before a sprint, so stay clear of this area usually.

Once you've got the accelerating and decelerating down, and you can keep the speed up through the corners you'll be able to ride some laps. Hopefully you'll have other experienced riders who can give you tips and let you follow them around so you can learn more.

A couple things you may hear while on the track is ';stick'; or ';stay.'; Those both mean you should keep your current line and not drift up or come down--stay right where you are. By telling you to ';stick'; or ';stay'; riders approaching you from behind can safely go around you without you moving into their path. Sometimes riders try to get out of the way and end up moving the wrong direction, so these commands are helpful to keep everyone safe.

Last tip, look far ahead and not right in front of you. Generally, as you enter a straight away, be looking at the end of the straight. In the middle of the straight away, you should be looking into the turn already. As you enter a turn be looking at the exit of the turn. It takes practice. You will also learn how to pay attention to the riders in front of you using your peripheral vision rather than looking directly at them, and this is a good skill to practice for track or road riding. If you are following a group of riders and you are the 6th or 7th rider in line, look past the first rider so you can anticipate the turns. Have fun!I am going to the velodrome for the first time ever. Can you give me some advice?
i've been to the velodrome in regular everyday attire before haha.. good luck

    what gear ratio?

What advice do you have for someone who is always worried about what others think of her?

I'm 23, but I still worry about what others think of me. Earlier I did it just so that I don't hurt certain people, but now it's become a habit. I'm always conscious about not leaving a bad impression of me wherever I go. It's almost like OCD.

On the surface, I appear to be a very confident person and people do tend to like me. But none of these help!!!What advice do you have for someone who is always worried about what others think of her?
I don care what other people think of me. I know they r wrong always. Many people= many opinions. If i know i look the best- then other people dont think bad about you. Just respect youself and say them- F.O.

Democrats or liberal do you have advice for Right on how to get a loud mouth offensive entertainer off the air?

They are only good at defending them. I am sure they will appreciate any advice you give them.

( I want to apologize for using the inclusive term the Right I do not mean it to apply to all)Democrats or liberal do you have advice for Right on how to get a loud mouth offensive entertainer off the air?
Stop calling for him to be removed from the air. The 1st amendment protects offensive speech (why would we need to protect speech which people wouldn't want to stop.) Apparently, both liberals (cough...fairness doctrine) and conservatives need to learn that.Democrats or liberal do you have advice for Right on how to get a loud mouth offensive entertainer off the air?
In this country, we all have the right to say what we wish.

But, you do not have the right to be listened to. If you do not like it, turn it off.
Ah, gee, have you been listening to somebody who disagrees with you again? You know you shouldn't do that, it's bad for your little ego.
Yes, IT'S A JOKE! Don't take it seriously. I just got hate mail today and i laugh it off. Do i care? No.

It's protected in the 1st amendment.
Conservatives seem to have cornered the market lately on getting rid of people that they disagree with. Maybe you should ask them.
I'm very sorry but the answer is no... otherwise Rush, Bill and Hannity would be yesterdays news. If you have any ideas... please expound!
if you mean Rush Limbaugh...nope - no idea how to get him off the air.

    just turn him off...
Oh please! All the movie stars and entertainers are libs!
Why is it always the left that is trying to silence others?
It is free speech, just like when Ann Coulter says wicked things.

I get a choking feeling when i swallow food:plz can you help with advice?

I get a choking feeling as i swallow my food, it feels like it sits there before travelling down to my stomach..sometimes it's painfull. Other times i have no problems. What is this and is it stress related.? thanks for your advice.I will be seeing my doctor soon.I get a choking feeling when i swallow food:plz can you help with advice?
I wonder if you might have a hyperactive gag reflex. Does it only happen in the morning? If so that might be it. Some people have a hyperactive reflex first thing in the morning and need to swish warm water around in their mouth before they eat. It could be stress related....are you stressed? Try slowing down as you eat and take tiny bites and work up to regular size bites.

  • Why do people give a negative when you are the expert and giving good advice?

I don't get it, is it an ego thing? Why do people give a negative when you are the expert and giving good advice?
Some users simply don't like your answer, others hope by giving you a thumb down they might have a better chance to recieve a BA, and then there are those trolls who give thumbs down randomly - just because they think it's funny to aggrevate other users. Why do people give a negative when you are the expert and giving good advice?

hewww....the same thing happens to me too....
I don't want to tear down your cathedral, but maybe even experts can get it wrong sometimes? Or is that blasphemy?

Maybe you should just lighten up a little (in this particular case, for I don't know how light-hearted you slide through the rest of your life...)? ;))
Social interactions are funny (odd) things. The situation makes a big difference. Usually in my experience from both sides of that situation is that either the expert is not recognized as such by the listener, or the information is presented poorly. People tend to dislike being preached at, no matter what the subject.

And sometimes people disagree in a way that indicates they want to learn more, where they are presenting the arguments that they see as important in making it dfficult for them to accept the ideas presented by the expert. Do not imagine that just because you are an expert that you cannot learn from your discussion with non-experts. And don't imagine that just because they are not expert, that they cannot understand why you support your views (the reason you think what you do).

As for the absence of recognition of expertise, the history of the relationship is usually important. Older siblings or peers that you have known since forever tend to think of you in the way that you once were and may think of you in a subordinate social position that precludes your being an expert in areas that they are not. Strangers may be unaware of your extensive knowledge in the subject unless you are introduced to them as an expert.

And finally, even experts can be wrong. Happens all the time.
It's not really negative--A good answer will give the pros and cons of an issue and let the asker do some thing as to which way to go. nothing is really black or white but the gray areas in the middle is vthe part that must be concidered as the best course in that situation. Be thankful you get both views of a solution.everyone needs the opportunity to have thoughts on the final outcome.--You get pros and cons and allowed to participate in the answer--who can you blame if it's not the best answer. no-one--but you feel good you covered the bases for ethical proplem solving
They're just mean and don't like spreading the love :(
