What kind of advice, would you give to a person thinking about entering the CG?

I'm thinking about going into the CG. Gonna try next, year to get into The Coast Guard Academy up in CT. I'm 17 years old. gonna be 18 in October.I have a good gpa (3.45) %26amp;%26amp; a okay Act score that is a 23

I'm kinda overweight, yet I've started dieting and exercising been starting at a mile everyday %26amp;%26amp; working myself up. Any advice you could give mee? What kind of advice, would you give to a person thinking about entering the CG?
A recruiter? You have got to be kidding me! It's a trap kid...dont' do it. You are better off chatting with someone who's balls are not on line if the numbers are not met. Someone that has experienced the BS.What kind of advice, would you give to a person thinking about entering the CG?
..im in the CG..petty officer stationed off the sandy hook bay...NYC harbor patrol. I would have to tell you loose couple of pounds and depending on your MOS deffinetly get used to the water, because u will be doin A LOT!! of swimming during your whole basic training!i wish you much luck!

Semper Paratus~
join the navy instead, its more fufilling.
Run a mile and a half. Don't forget your push ups and sit ups. Thoset are the physical requirements. Just keep training to you go in. Keep on your diet. Eat three meals a day. Drink lots of water it will help flush your system out. Coast Guard is a great career. I'm enlisted so I can't give you any advice about coming in as an officer but good luck in doing it.
Slowly increase the distance you are running each day and like someone else said work on your swimming .
I would talk with a Recruiter. They can give you an idea about basic training and what skills you may need to improve on in the short term.
