She may need some extra pampering, mine gets a little clingy and follows me everywhere, but the heat only lasts around 3 weeks so it won't be long before she's back to normal, and you already know to keep her away from boy dogs, that's probably the main thing you need to do, they're sneaky little buggers and will do their best to get to her!


If you want to avoid this in the future you could get her spayed, but obviously that's your decision.What is the best advice you can give me now that my dog is in heat?
Make sure your gate is firmly closed!
never take her outside without a leash, get her one of those diapers so you don't have mess everywhere, get her spayed about one month after her cycle ends.
get her spayed... they can do it while shes in heat, i just costs a bit more. getting her spayed when shes young decreases the risk of certain cancers and unwanted pregnancy
Keep your gate closed (if she play in the backyard). Or she might run away for some romance.
make sure shes away from pillows too





well thats what my dog did when there wasn't a male dog around lol
To make very sure that she does not have any opportunity to get away from you as she is no longer your loving dog but rather a creature that just needs to find a male and I mean right now.....





If they can get away they will not hesitate and dont let her lay her scent on the boundaries of your property as this will attract males and once they have the scent they wont go away till they get what they want even if it means scaling a 6 foot fence.
