Have you fasted? Do you have advice on how to do it the right way?

I am starting a 3 day fast, and ive never done this before, the longest ive ever done is one day. What did you eat the day before? Did you take vitamins? Is there anything else i should know?Have you fasted? Do you have advice on how to do it the right way?
make sure you eat plenty of foods especially fruits, veggies, and nuts. And make sure weather you eat or not that you drink water when you are fasting.Have you fasted? Do you have advice on how to do it the right way?
Why in heavens name would you fast? Well, stalk up on carbs and sugar, not to mention take things with vitamins. When you're fasting take vitamins so your body doesn't collapse.

What is the best piece of advice your parents ever gave you?

Treat everyone like you would like to be treated. What is the best piece of advice your parents ever gave you?
There are always three ways to handle a problem

1. Go around it

2. Go through it

3. Go over it

Ever since then I have had to think about the solutions and which way to deal with it. It even helped me decide to divorce, I didn't want to go through it and I wouldn't consider an affair, either. I got over it.What is the best piece of advice your parents ever gave you?
1) Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

2) be the best at whatever you decide to be

3) If you don't have anything nice to say to a person, don't say anything at all.

4) your word is your bond, without your word you have nothing.
It was the best and the worst.

';BE NICE';

Consequently, everybody has

always thought I was nice, but

when it was time to stand up for

myself or 'call' somebody for doing

something wrong to me, I thought

if I did that I wouldn't 'be nice.'

Bad news.
It wasn't so much what they said, but what they were. They've both been gone about 13 years now. We have a special picture we carry to every family function - because we want them to be there too. They were the hub of our family %26amp; none of us have ever been able to fill the void they left.
When I was about ten my dad called me over, smoothed a one dollar bill on the table and pointed to it and sarcastically told me, ';this is God.'; I loved my dad and tried to always listen to what he said. Boy was he right about that one!!
Always keep two purses ';purses in the uk are only to keep your money in.'; One your husband

knows about and one he doesn't know you have, and you will never be skint, as you will always have rainy day money.
Don't know that this would be considered advice, but the mother always told me:

'; I brought you into this world, I can sure as h*ll take you out !';

Kept ME on the straight and narrow....
When you're even in a situation where you feel someone thinks they're better than you. Imagine them on the toilet wiping their ****.

-My dad said that to me.
To get an education %26amp; not depend on a man to take care of me. As it turned out, I ended up taking care of both husbands, for totally different reasons.
Basically, it was a presentation about how difficult it was going to be when I left home ... this paved the way for a smooth transition that was actually quite easy.
bad advice really...but they feed me, sent me to school, dentist, doctor %26amp; church..for as old as i am..you'd think something would come to mind, hmm
If you don't have anything to say, don't say anything.
Wear clean underwear without holes.
GRADUATE! And I did. And it helped.
Do not go to a mixed social function without your husband.
From mother:

';If you lay down with dogs, you'll get up with fleas';

From Father:

';Don't eat yellow snow';
From my very wise Father...Keep your eyes open and your mouth shut
Be true to yourself.

You are the only one accountable for your own actions.
Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see!!
Don't sweat the petty stuff, or was that pet the sweaty stuff. I get them mixed up.
You only get what you work for.
Go out in the yard and turn that snake loose, boy!
Don't pee on an electric fence.

How much should I charge to photograph a wedding? Do you have any advice for me ?

$2,000 and be sure to leave the lens cap on. Then you can just print one picture without all the picture editing and charge $60 per print. How much should I charge to photograph a wedding? Do you have any advice for me ?
LOL you had me worried there for a moment, until I looked at your profile.

The photo is funny, as is this line: ';I have read page one of part one of the Guide to Amateur Photography. So I am quite knowledgeable. ';

I guess you're quite the clown, huh? ;-)How much should I charge to photograph a wedding? Do you have any advice for me ?
Charge as little as you can so people won't have to deal with attitudes like some of the answerer's here http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
Charge zero. Based on your other questions I sincerely doubt you have the experience and equipment to do a proper job. If I'm wrong then please accept my apology.
I don't know, but I hope you have life insurance.

Is Dr. Laura Schlessinger a real Doctor? What do you think about the advice she gives and is she rude?

I was listening to this lady and I was surprised that much of the things she advised was the opposite of what I would of told someone. I was worried that I was maybe not seeing the world in the right way, but then I figured that she is out of touch with reality. Is Dr. Laura Schlessinger a real Doctor? What do you think about the advice she gives and is she rude?
It all depends on how you define the term ';doctor.'; She does have a PhD, but in physiology, not psychology -- big difference, obviousy. She hasn't had an active counseling license in years. As for the advice she gives, not only is she beyond rude, but she never really gets the full story. Instead, she wants a list of 'talking points' and makes a ridiculously quick assessment of the situation. She seems to espouse some sort of ';keepin' it real'; attitude, which is code for her being snarky and snide. Even Dr. Phil knows when to throttle back, for crying out loud. She's also violated just about every ';rule'; she touts (so-called ';shacking up'; with a man, having an affair with a married man, working while her son was small, etc.). Women especially should only listed if they enjoy being belittled and demeaned. Is Dr. Laura Schlessinger a real Doctor? What do you think about the advice she gives and is she rude?
i dont like her. i think her ';advice'; is just telling everyone theyre idiots who need to get a life and move on.

idk if shes a real doctor though

  • Can you give me some advice on how to sue my landlord?

I moved out in Aug. My ex-landlord...

    - shut off my air conditioning when my rent was 2 days late (illegal)

    - threatened to forcibly enter my apartment, drunk (I called police)

    - refused to fix my non-flushing toilet (illegal)

    - tried to evict me via post-it note (illegal - you can only evict through a court)

    ...among other broken laws.

He has the nerve of now billing me for September rent (I moved out in August after giving required notice), cleaning fees, cost to fix toilet, etc., and threatened ';legal action'; if I don't pay.

I can't afford a lawyer but I want to sue him. Do you think it's possible to do it on my own? I have proof, witnesses, etc., but no lawyer and I don't qualify for Legal Aid.

What can I do to prepare my case and better my chances? Can you give me some advice on how to sue my landlord?
You do nothing at this point. If he tries to (laughably) take you to court, you can be appointed an attorney through the court system. Then present your case. Witnesses should write an affa davit and get the document notarized. In the meantime you can always look up in your local phone book the agencies listed for housing where you can report a bad landlord. It's quite possible he's done this to other tenants, but anyone who tries to evict you via a post it note is obviously crying wolf and has no idea what he is doing. Can you give me some advice on how to sue my landlord?
You can sue in civil court (small claims) yourself by going to local courthouse and filling out a few form thru clerk of court.

about $50.00. You get it back if you win your settlement.

Be prepared to move out if you sue.

You might be better off calling housing authority or social services

for advice before you decide to sue in civil small claims court.

And first of all-- you need to notify the landlord by certified mail of your problems.

    DOCUMENTATION:

Give 10 days to respond to your problems.

You prob will be asked to moved maybe even evicted but if you do it right you can get temporary injunction untilafter your court date.

    Certified letter first.

    then folllow up.
YOU CAN SUE HIM YOUR SELF BUT YOU GONNA LOOSE AND PROBABLY GET COUNTER SUED UNLESS YOU GET A LAWYER.
He is just trying to buffalo you into paying, he probably won't do a think about it, sounds like a real looser. That kinda person can't get there act together to do anything . If you paid a deposit he can legally take out a cleaning fee, but not fixing the toliet. If he didn't require a deposit, that's his problem---------won't stand up in court.
Are you sure that you want to sue him? I'd say, call him up and tell him everything that you've said here. Make him realize that if you go to court he will lose and lose big time. If the guy has any sense and you go about it reasonably then he ought to agree to let everything drop. Then you can both go on with your regularly scheduled lives. That is what I did with my last landlord. He screwed up a lot of things, then tried to keep my security deposit. I called and pointed out all the stuff he had done wrong and said, hey, this is not enough money to be worth going to court over - why don't you just return my security deposit and save us both a lot of trouble? It worked!!
Sue him in small claims court..

    No lawyers allowed...
Don't sue. Let him take you to small claims court. You show up and argue your case to him. If everything is as you say and you've got the facts, and hopefully the documentation and proof, on your side, the judge will toss his case out.

Girls & Guys: Is there any advice you have for the girls/guys regarding the opposite gender?

You know like for me I'd say something simple like: Don't call her hot - call her pretty or beautiful. Those sound more respectful and sweet than hot, and girls like that.Girls %26amp; Guys: Is there any advice you have for the girls/guys regarding the opposite gender?
if you made a mistake and she gets mad at you, dont get mad at her back... thats just stupidGirls %26amp; Guys: Is there any advice you have for the girls/guys regarding the opposite gender?
    Little Miss Strawberries,

    It all depends on how the person would react to your comments. The simplest, yet hardest advice is to be simple. Don;t try and nuke it or try and be different. In most cases other have tried this approach and failed. Some examples to say to a woman would be;

    1. You have beautiful eyes.

    2. You are very beautiful.

    3. That shirt brings out the colors in your eyes.

    4. You have beautiful hands.

I have always found that when I say something like this to a woman I will say it then walk away, unless she makes the next move and begins a conversation. The key is to be honest instead of being something else. Otherwise you will look and sound like a goofball.
i agree. my boyfriend has always called me beautiful, he's never said i'm hot. it's much better in my eyes.

my advice for guys is if you catch her looking at your lips then kiss her lips gently and confort her if she is nervous. staring at the opposites lips is generally a sign of wanting a kiss but beign too scared...

    xox jen xox
yep. don't try and talk to us when we're watching tv, that's what the ads are for. and don't complain about the toilet seat, when it's down i just lift it up, so why don't you just put it down.
Guys - Girls don't mind seeing your weaknesses, it's endearing.

Girls - Don't be too whiny.
Don't trust 'em as far as you can throw them and make sure they keep their hands where you can see them.
Everything happens for a reason. If something doesn't work out, it's not meant to be. Give it time and it will work itself out. ♥

That goes both ways though, girls and guys.
To guys: Be a gentleman.... and drop the attitude.

To girls: It's ok to be smart, so stop acting dumb.

To both: Listen to your heart - it always knows.
I was gonna say the same as you!

Guys: Don't call a girl Hot or cute, call her beautiful. Its means more :)
    I agree with your one.

    I would say :

''don't try and be cool in front of your mates when i'm around, you're already amazing''

    x
3 out of 4 guys want nothing more than to get in your pants

we take a little longer to mature
dont seem desperate in front of your partner.
    take you time.

Has anyone had a breast reduction? Can you give me some advice or feedback?

I'm waiting on insurance to approve it and wanted some info. Thanks!Has anyone had a breast reduction? Can you give me some advice or feedback?
I had one February 2006 and the only regret is not getting it done sooner!

My back pain, shoulder pain, and neck pain that I had with my 38J cup boobs, GONE! Now I have perky 38C's and my fiance LOVES them!!

Insurance companies are different, so they can cover anywhere from 50-100% of the cost (mine covered all $8,000 of my breast reduction). I did not have to lose weight, they only had a gram requirement (600 total grams). The PS took off 2000 grams!!! (or five pounds)

Make sure you see at least three PS's before deciding. I ended up going with the second PS I saw. Check out their before/after pics, and find out how long after the procedure the after pics are.

Take off at least two weeks of work, more if you are in a physically active position. You will be on light duty for about a month, or at least until the incisions are completely closed up. Then you can start using ScarGuard or Mederma on your incisions (scars can take at least a year to fade, so do not put them in the sun for at least a year or they will turn permanently red!).

Final size can also take at least a year. PATIENCE is the key word to this recovery. Do not expect your final size right away. Your breasts will also be looking ugly for a few months due to the bruising and swelling.

A site that helped me out TONS before and after surgery is:

http://www.breasthealthonline.comHas anyone had a breast reduction? Can you give me some advice or feedback?
Listen Girl...if u want ur **** 2 get big...no need for that crap....just play with ur boobs everyday..and you'll see the changes
    no.
no need to do that.just play with ur ****** everyday and ask ur bf or husband to play with it. it will surely help u.just see the result slowly.
    hi there,

yes i had a breast reduction 10 years ago. and i am very happy with the results. why don't you go to plastic surgery.com and click on breast reduction to see the before and after photos. there will be some scarring but they go away after a few years. it is definitely invasive and you will be sore for a few weeks, but it really does make a big difference in how you look and feel about yourself. if you are unhappy with the way you look then the reduction is the way to go.

i wish you the best of luck and may God bless and keep you safe during your surgery
The surgery is very invasive and leaves lots of scarring. The breast are lifted by cutting skin and tissue out of the body. When the skin and tissue are removed the nipple is moved by cutting the nipple out of the skin and replacing it to the new position. The scar goes across the mid-drift of the body and around the nipple down to the mid-drift. A support bra is recommended even after healing.

What the worst parenting advice you have ever heard?

Not necessarily given to you but just in general have you ever heard about. the worst or oddest i heard was to starighten out babys feet put there shoes on opposite feet. What the worst parenting advice you have ever heard?
    Let the kids decide....

They are *kids*! Parents are supposed to protect their kids from bad decisions!!!! Parents can *help* their kids make important decisions, but they don't just let the kids decide and let it go!What the worst parenting advice you have ever heard?
I actually know someone who was told by the dr to put their child's shoes on the wrong feet bc it would help with pigeon toes and that if that worked the child wouldn't have to have surgery. Well guess what, it did work and it corrected their pigeon toes and yeah the child didn't have to have surgery!!!! So don't knock bad advice!!! Yeah I can understand getting upset over things like telling people not to breastfeed, etc, but some things are really helpful!!!
Let her/him cry it out so they can't manipulate you.

The idiot Einstein at Columbia University who came up with this Ferber trash is hopefully being entertained in a torture cell in hell right now. So many linear parents bought this trash.

Babies do not have object permanance until about 12-18 months old depending upon their development, and that is only the 'normal' range. If an object or person does not exist out of site or touch for these helpless little babes; then Ferberizing, or letting them scream for help for hours is just sick and twisted control freaks hurting babies.

I hope he's learning that no one is going to answer his screams.
I think the worst was a 'friend' turned around and told me to drink a couple of pints of beer before breast feeding my 2 day old son as it will 'knock' him straight out, then she went on to say how it works for her daughter and she does it nearly everyday, funnily enough I don't speak to her now and I never did take her advice.
My parents were quite fond of the ';walk-it-off'; theory of parenting when we got hurt. Now I have a loosened ligament in my ankle, some sort of bizarre arthritis in that ligament, and a permanent chipped fracture w/part of my bone still floating around somewhere.
    Wow, that is bad!

I still think ';Crying is good for a baby. It clears her lungs'; is one of the top offenders--Clears her lungs of WHAT?! Air? So strange.

    *Well, to the thumbs-downers:

Seriously, what is being cleared out of her lungs?

(And this is not referring to when they're first born, but to older babies.)
A friend of mine told me I shouldn't hold my baby so much because she would get ';spoiled';. She said her mother always told her that. Her mother, I might add, was a dead alcoholic by that time.

My daughter turned out great. Her sons, on the other hand, are rebellious demons now.
I'm not sure if its advice, but my sister in law tells her son that he has to eat to feed the worms in his stomach or the worms will eat him. I would never say that to a kid, if my mom told me that I would have freaked out!
I've heard a lot of bad advice, but the one that sticks out in my head at the moment was when my cousins kid started a biting stage, she told me if your kid ever bites, you bite them back really hard to teach them not to bite.
I had a neighbour once who gave me her solution to a colicky baby. She said ';just give him a dose of gavol and he'll sleep all night!';. HORRIBLE!!!!

Drugging a baby! I thought she was nuts!
To let my 2 month old cry himself back to sleep in the middle of the night.. Seriously if you ferberize your infant, you should be SHOT. If your baby is crying- PICK THEM UP!!! FEED THEM!!!... if you can't deal with some sleepless nights, don't have kids, please.
Any parenting advice that seems extreme, I would say. I can't pinpoint any particularly bad parenting advice. Maybe just when people brag about their children and say that yours should be doing more than what they are doing as far as developmentally?
';Don't breastfeed.'; My aunt actually told me that formula is better than breastmilk and that only lazy parents breastfeed. I thought that was terrible advice! So I breastfed for a year.
Ive heard to make your baby's eyes a light color, when they are about a month old, put a drop of lemon in each eye.

    That's is crazy!!
To put your baby on their stomach for the first few months because it's comfortable for the baby
the worst advice i ever heard is to put your baby outside in the sun for 5 minutes a day so that they get vitamin d that they need...crazy!!
I would have to say have a young baby (less than say 6 months old) CIO to get them to go to sleep.
Let babies cry it out in the middle of the night....
Put lemon juice in your babys eye!

    How terrible!
To spank a baby if they bite you! Thats just awfull.
rice in th ebottle to make them sleep better!
all the advice from people whith no children who think they know it all and are very judgemental

Can you give any advice on how to enjoy palawan without having to spend much?

im coming from manila. ANy ideas on Cheap flights, hotels and beaches? Can you give any advice on how to enjoy palawan without having to spend much?
for room accommodations, you may stay at puerto pension. the rate is php1200, triple occupancy. the rate is already inclusive of round trip airport transfers and breakfast for 3 guests.

when doing your tours, arrange it yourself. some tour companies will charge you as much 600 per person for a city tour but if you just rent a van, it will come out cheaper. tricycle drivers even told us that they organize city tours for only php500 for 3 persons.

as for cheap flights, cebu pacific and PAL come up with promos every once in a while...

below is a detailed itinerary of our trip to palawan nearly a month ago:

http://manila-mania.blogspot.com/2008/06鈥?/a>Can you give any advice on how to enjoy palawan without having to spend much?
Everything in Philippines is already cheap. Especially if you are a filipino buying from your own people. If the cost of the trip is your main concern, perhaps you should just not take the trip. Its really hard to enjoy any trip if you are constantly having to haggle over every peso. How can anybody enjoy such a situation? The best way to make prices go down on things is to just not buy it. If Palawan is an expensive place to go then people should just not go there. Trust me, the prices will come down if that happen. Thats why tourist traps are so expensive and the off-path places are a bargain.
There are ';2 areas'; to go to in Palawan.

The first and the obvious is via Puerto Princessa. This you can access via PAL or Super Ferry. From Puero Princessa, you can already go to numerous places: crocodile farm, the St. Paul Underground River, island hopping at Honda Bay, the former Vietnames refugee camp, then southward is a totally different trip like visiting the Tabon Caves, etc...

The other area has to be accessed differently bec. it is at the northernmost tip of Palawan, the Calamian Group of Islands. (check out a Philippine map--it's quite distant from Puerto Princessa)

AIR PHILIPPINES travels to Coron (Island in Calamian). But Calamian is cheapest to access via SuperFerry (leaves Manila pier Friday afternoon, you get there Saturday about 7am).If you take Superferry, be sure to be awake by around 6am to see the splendor of the limestone cliffs that becons. We had a grand weekend (2days) coming home Monday afternoon, I think this is cheapest from Manila. Same ship will sail to Puerto Princessa and it takes another 8hours or so.Come Sunday afternoon, this same ship sails back to Manila...

In the Calamianes, probably due to the geography of the group of islands, there's a weather phenomenon, some sort of a ';squall'; (quick rainpour then stop, leaving a quiet mist-filled surrounding). We experienced this and it was amazing.

In Busuanga, DIVE LINK RESORT is excellent. Limestone formations, pristine (as in) beaches, superb dive sites. The cleanest lake in the country is in Calamian. There is also a hotspring right in the middle of the water between the limestone cliffs. And another one tha't like a swimming pool in a shore somewhere. This area is ';not accessible'; from Puerto Princessa in the sense that it is quite distant w/ mountains and rough roads and it is an altogether different area.

In Popototan Island, the farthest island westward (of Palawan and the Philippines) is where Coral Bay Resort is.

A number of resort owners there are Europeans. One owner once told me his story, pretty much like the Bible's ';parable of the lost treasure';-- he visited Palawan (Calamian), saw the beauty of the place, went back home, SOLD HIS BELONGINGS and went back to Palawan and bought a beachfront where he now runs his dive site.

The waters in the Calamianes are calm. just calm. excellent to island hop and even do watersports.

Just surf the website of AIR PHILIPPINES for flight details.

Note:DIVE LINK and CORAL BAY Resorts have a Manila Office.

    Enjoy Palawan!
palawan with over 1,800 islands is the biggest province in the philippines in land area. there are many lesser known resorts (no a/c, no luxury) but you get the same nice beach. go where the locals go and not where international jet setters are.

  • Can you give me advice on how to introduce a new cat to a dog?

I want to buy a cat but my mom is worried about our dog.

I hear you have to introduce them slowly and keep them seperated and let them meet for longer periods of time or something.

Also some advice on how to litter train?

That would help alot thanks :DCan you give me advice on how to introduce a new cat to a dog?
Hi there...gradually introducing is the correct way.

Here are some website which helps provide tips on the introductions:

    http://www.thecatsite.com/Behavior/50/In鈥?/a>

    http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content鈥?/a>

    http://home.ivillage.com/pets/cats/0,,mj鈥?/a>

    Litter training:

    http://www.pawsperouspets.com/tips/litte鈥?/a>

http://www.perfectpaws.com/litter.htmlCan you give me advice on how to introduce a new cat to a dog?
Is your dog old. It may take a little bit longer for your dog to get to know the cat if he has been the only one for a long time. Usually it does not take too long. If the dog shows aggression towards the cat then cats are well able to defend themselves. Just take it slowly and be relaxed when you introduce them as both the cat and the dog will pick up on it if you are worried. The litter tray comes naturally to most cats but watch your dog with it as they are inclined to nibble the contains
Well, I'd advise being very, very careful doing this. My dog was raised with cats, so she was fine. I would start by holding your cat where your dog can see he/she. Let your cat know it's okay, and let your dog know that the cat isn't an intruder by petting him and talking to him. If your dog did okay with this, feed he or she a treat. Try doing this for the next few days. Do not leave them alone together. After your dog gets used to this idea, put your cat down while holding your dogs collar so the dog cannot chase after the cat. Tell your dog in a reassuring voice that it's okay. Let the cat come up to the dog and investigate. Judging by your dogs behavior, whether it looks happy and curious, or mad and territorial, go on to the next step, and let them meet. Try doing this with your dog on a leash. If all this goes well, and everything seems fine, then let your animals be together without restraint, but only if you're totally sure. Following this, if all is well, still do not leave your pets alone together when you are not home until you are absolutely 100% sure they will be okay. Good luck! This takes patience and time.
Litter training- EVERY TIME the cat poops rub his/her nose in it ( swat on butt, tell it no) and the put the cat in the litter box that's how you train a cat to go in the litter box, as for the dog let the cat feel at home first, then let the dog in, and the cat will get to safe grounds be leave me, and after a while they will get along I have to cats and 2 dogs and they all get along just fine
I had a dog that was about 3 when we got our cat. Make sure the cat has its claws for self defense! If the dog is still young, it will be fine, for most instences. If you have the dog on a leash, and let the cat run free when u introduce them, it will take some time, but it will work.

As for litter box training, keep it in the house for the first few weeks and keep carrying the cat to the box, and after a while u can move it to where u want it in the garage or bathroom and coninue leading the cat to the box, and they will eventually learn. cats are attracted to the litter anyway.

    HOPE I HELPED!
Keep them seperated, but let them get used to each others sent. By placing a towel or blanket with the dogs sent in the cats area, and a towel or blanket with the cats sent in the dogs area. The sents will be farmiliar to them when they finally met. I did this when introducing a kitten to my adult cat.
i have 3 dogs and we recently rescued a 7 or 8 month old cat the big dogs are abit funny with her but my chihuahua is totally fine with her i even caught them last night sleeping together in the same bed they looked really sweet i didnt do it gradually i just held our cat closely to me and let our dog sniff her they were buddies straight away, there was a few hisses but nothing that worried me also be carefull with the litter tray my chihuahua and the cat both use the litter tray and he does try and eat her poo but there is some thing that u can put in the litter to turn the dog off
I was lucky, I have 2 cats and my partner have a dog and it is a bullmastiff (very big dog)....you need to introduce them gradually...I remember one of my cat landed a couple punches on the dog but now they get along very well...they even cuddle :)
Let kitty and dog get to know one another on their own terms. They will eventually tolerate one another. We have 3 dogs and 4 cats and they seem to get along okay. Maybe, not at first but they worked it out.
    who cares?
When introducing a dog to a cat, the question is really one of proper dog training. Dogs usually want to chase and play with cats, and cats are usually afraid and defensive. After all, the cat has a lot more to lose if the relationship gets nasty. Once the cat is confident that the dog does not pose a threat, then the opportunity opens for a wonderful friendship to blossom.

As with all animal introductions, scent is the all-important factor in getting acquainted. Before letting the pets have visual contact with each other, let them sniff each other's bedding.

The dog should know some basic commands like ';sit';, ';down';, ';come';, and ';stay';. Reward obedience with food treats so that the motivation to comply will be strong enough to withstand the distraction of having a cat in the room.

After the basic training is master, it is time for a face-to-face introduction in a controlled manner. Wearing a training collar and a leash, give your dog the command to either ';sit'; or ';down'; and ';stay';. Reinforce compliance with food rewards. Have a family member enter the room and quietly sit down with the cat on his lap. At first the cat and dog should be on opposite sides of the room. Repeat this step several times until both the cat and the dog are tolerating each other without signs of aggression or fear.

Next, move the animals closer together, with the dog still on the leash and the cat gently held in a lap. If the cat does not like to be held, you can use a wire crate or carrier instead. If the dog gets up from his ';stay'; position, he should be firmly repositioned, and praised and rewarded for obeying the ';stay'; command. If the cat becomes frightened, increase the distance between the animals and progress more slowly.

Initially, the dog should always be wearing a training collar and a leash when the cat is present so that any attempt to bark at, or chase, the cat can be halted instantly. Praise and food treats should be lavished on the dog when he is calm and obedient in the cat's presence. (If he is only punished when the cat is around, he may redirect aggression toward the cat.)

Precautions: Keep the dog and cat separated when you are not home until you are certain that the cat will be safe. Be sure that the cat does not have to pass by the dog's area to get to the litterboxes or he may look for a safer and more convenient toilet area. As some dogs enjoy ';raiding'; the litterbox, it may be best to place a baby gate across the entrance of the room to allow the cat, but not the dog, to pass through.

Place the kitten in the box 1/2 hour after play or meals.

Stimulate interest in the litter by stirring it.

Let the kitten jump in and out of the litter box instead of restraining him.

Place some stool in the litter box (builds associations between litter box and bathroom needs).

Use a litter with pellets as these mask the wet feel.

If the kitten was born and raised outside, they may have a tendency to want to maintain those outside habits inside your home. You may find that they might try and use your plants as a litter box. A kitten that was born and raised, for the first several weeks, inside by its mother will have the advantage of its mother's help in the litter training process, and other domestications. Kittens, generally, can begin to use a litter box at about four weeks of age, and a kitten being raised without its mother or adult cat will take slightly longer to litter train; so, keep this in mind when you begin the task of litter training your kitten.

Cats are naturally a remarkably clean and fastidious animal and will usually learn quite quickly how to use a litter tray. Some kittens can be put in the litter tray and they instinctively go back there but others simply refuse to use the litter tray and will always find a nice corner of the room. The other problem here is that once one of the kittens starts using a corner of the room, the other may think that they should be using it too.

You really need to spend a fair amount of time with the kittens continually picking them up after eating or drinking and putting them in the litter tray. You can also buy a spray that attracts them to the litter tray. Cat urine does not do the carpets any good and if you allow the cat to continually use the corner of a room, you will soon find that the carpet discolors and you can never really get rid of that awful smell.

You could use a ';pet behave spray'; which is basically a spray that can be applied to any soft furnishing - carpets, stairs, settees etc and will deter the cat from going near as they hate the smell. You will also need to clean the litter tray daily if you have more than one cat. The only solution is perseverance and a willingness to clean up a lot of cat waste before they finally learn where they are supposed to go! You should never scold a young cat for fouling in the wrong place and certainly never rub its nose in it.

Do you have any advice for me: I want to become a horse vet?

I would like advice on what I can do to become a vet.

Right now I am a junior in high school. This is what I am doing so far. Do you think I am on track to becoming a vet, and what else can I do?

I am: - working hard to get good grades, especially in science

    - Trying to arrange volunteering with a vet

    - Getting a working student position at the barn where I ride

    - Learning as much as I can about horses

    - Joining 4H and my school's equestrian teamDo you have any advice for me: I want to become a horse vet?
I'm actually on the same path as you, except I'm one year younger (I'm a sophmore). If they offer Anatomy and Physiology at your school, then take that. Also, if your high school offers Latin, then I would take that (It's a really good thing to do and you can outsmart people that took French, or Spanish). Latin will help with forming medical terms, and will also look good when you apply at colleges. Your school has an Equestrian Team, lucky! I want my school to have an Equestrian Team!

I would also highly recomend reading anything that is written by James Herriot. He gives you a good look on what being a Vet is like, although his stories take place from like the 30s to the 60s, so they're kind of outdated, and they take place in England in the Yorkshire Dales. But they're really cool to read!

Other than that you seem fine, you're practically doing everything that I am doing. Also, if you ever get a chance to go to a Equine Medical Center, then go there. A friend of mine might need to take her horse to the Marion Du Pont Equine Medical Center because she has a hymoglycoma (something like that, a big blob of nasal fluid) and it's bugging her. So I want to go there and watch the surgeon stick a thing up her nose and inject it with something to make it smaller. It's really cool to see a Equine Medical Center in my opinion, you get to see big x-ray machines and stuff like that.

Hope you get to be a Vet someday!Do you have any advice for me: I want to become a horse vet?
It sounds like you're well on track. High grades, especially in things like biology and chemistry are very important, and getting into any vet school is highly competitive. You've got to train in all animals first- from there you may either go out into a general practice that deals with horses, or you have the option to do further training and work in an equine hospital.

Getting as much experience as you can is a good start- although the first thing a lot of universities look at is your academic record, having already demonstrated an already interest in the profession may be the thing that helps you over the line. It may be hard for you to arrange voluntary work with a vet yourself, due to insurance and that sort of thing, but see if your school has a formal work experience program that will cover you.

All the best :o) I finish my veterinary degree in 5 weeks time and I'm loving it!

ewolfbalto- is it an ethmoid haematoma that you're thinking of? Some vets use a nasal endoscope and inject formalin into the haematoma to shrink it.
You are doing great, so keep it up! Also, try to get more jobs in different places, and join social commities so your resim茅 looks good.
Get good grades! Vet school is hard, and some people say it's harder than med school.

Focus on the sciences and math.

Learn not to get grossed out by things. See if you can work in a barn of vet office. If you're squeamish about blood, manure, cleaning wounds, etc maybe vet isn't right for you.

See if you can learn more about what a vet does. A horse vet is in high demand and can make good $$$.... but they work long hours. The vet who does my horses starts at 8am and works some days past 8am and some weekedns. She's on call, and she's making phone calls on her days off.

Vet school is also expensive. If your grades are good enough, you can get scholarships, but once you get to HS you need to talk to your paretns about the money issue. You can do student loans. Or work-study. Or if you have a special talent in another field (for example athetics) you could get a scholarship on that.

We really need more good equine vets! there's a huge shortage in the field and it's only going to get worse.

    Best of luck to you!
Working for an equine vet is the biggest thing - if you can get a summer job there that would be best.

I would also recommend going to a junior/community college before going to a larger University. So much of vet school depends on your grades, and regardless of how good a student you are now, there is some ';culture shock'; when you go away to a large University. Most students see their grades slip just a little - if not more. I would get a job at a local equine hospital, and take college courses to get your associates degree in science at the same time. Then transfer to a larger university with a few years of real life experience under your belt.

I know that seems like odd advice, but if I had it to do over, that is how I would do it.

    Good Luck!
wow that would be the best job in the world. wish icould do it!! but you sound like you're doing really well so just keep it up and you'll do great!
Definately keep your eye on the prize...working with a vet will help you decide if it's REALLY what you want to do. Good luck!
Hey! I am a vet. myself, I think you are making great decisions! You are doing very well and I know by your personality that you love animals.I would follow your dream and help the world one horse at a time, if you know people with horses or you volunteer somewhere that is a great start. You can practice brushing and riding until you become an expert just follow your dreams and maybe your friends and family could help you out oo! Good luck!
    Neigh

you seem to be on a great course!

    all the best !
You are on your way. Vet school is amazingly hard to get into. You will need to maintain a straight average in college to be admitted...keep up the good work!
Call your local vets and see if you can do a few ride alongs to see if this is something you truly can do.most people think they can until they get to be invloved in it up close and personal... your on a great start for now though and I wish you the best of luck :)

Do you have any advice on how to repair damaged hair?

Over the winter, my hair became dry and really dull....what should I do with it?Do you have any advice on how to repair damaged hair?
get a good deep conditioning treatment....you can get them at walmart and targetDo you have any advice on how to repair damaged hair?
try going to the store, and buying a deep conditioner that you can just leave in your hair for a couple of hours. also i would stay away from the blow dryer, straightener, curling iron ect...

    hope this helps : )
get fortifying shamppoo...tresemme shampoo and conditioner works the best...if you have colored hair or u have highlights and u dye it alot..defintly get color treated shampoos and conditioners..try also not to use a straightening iron if you use one...try to curl it or use a blow dryer..
Leave your hair for a week and DONT wash it! I know this sound horrible but it will get all the natural oils back that have been lost. Also use a hair mask =D good luck! xxxxxxx
Me, I dye my hair like there is not tomorrow...but with what I use my hair is soft and shiny and pretty. I use two different products...Redken for distressed hair...shampoo and conditioner. Comes in a Navy blue bottle. Also used Biolage Hydrath茅rapie: Biolage Ultra-Hydrating Shampoo and conditioner. Hope this helped you! :)
    Use conditioner
I know this sounds crazy but mayonaise is one of the best one's i have ever tried.....just cover you hair and then wrap it up in a towel for a couple hours. It has worked for me several times, it does kinda smell ...but you will like the outcome....
I have dry overprocessed hair. I've tried all the expensive salon stuff. But what really works is Neutrogenas Triple Moisture!! I love it. It makes my hair silky and shiny. I also have curly frizzy hair!! It works wonders. Cheaper than salon and I say better that salon stuff. You can find at any drug store and it's around $5.
Use a shampoo and conditioner that is meant for repairing damaged hair, I would recomend the new dove repair line or pantine pro-v has been working really well for me. Also, brushing your hair alot keeps your hair smooth and shiny and so does rinsing the conditioner out of your hair with water thats as cold as you can tolorate. Try laying off the heat products like the curling iron and the flat iron too for a while, that may be what is causing your hair to break. Good Luck!!!
use a deep conditioner that you can just leave in your hair for a couple of hours... instead of blow drying just use a towel and keep brushing ur hair over and over again until it's dry enough to stop brushing and it will stay in place or whatever
    DOVE SHAMPOO
use damaged hair contioner every other day. over time it will become more silkier. i prefer patene.
if you can get a hold of KMS moisture repair leave in conditioner... i swear by it... it doesnt weigh your hairdown yet it gives your hair plenty of moisture, use it when your hair is damp and not too much!

How can I improve my life? 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?

    Hi everyone,

What do you think about my life? How can I improve it? (Sorry for the poor grammar--English is my second language.)

I am 22 years old. I am a lower middle class. I am a virgin. I am a good person. I am studying full-time (last year in a Master's program) I am working two part-time jobs. I want to save my money ;therefore, I have no cars, no phones, and living in a little room. I hardly have a social life because I am spending my time working and studying.

Sometimes, I am proud of myself because I will have my master's without debts or student loans. Sometimes, I feel so discourage and down to see other people my age have fun and enjoy life while I have to work so hard.

What do you think? Please advice. Thank you so much for your kindness. How can I improve my life? 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?
You have discovered the joy of delayed gratification.

Once you have your masters, no one can take your education away from you. No one can take away what is going to open up to you when you graduate. You are one year away from all sorts of new opportunities and having the life that you had dreamed about and worked towards.

Your life will improve when you stop perceiving it as being anything but desirable. You want to be like them. Three quarters of the world want to be like you -- a debt free education and a master's degree. More than 80% of the world never even see the hallways of a college or university.

Don't feel sorrow for your situation. You have the ideal situation by most standards. How can I improve my life? 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?
Find more balance to your life. I believe that what you are trying to do is admirable, but I also believe that you're going way too fast. Many people your age have just finished up their Bachelor's degree. School and work are not the only things to life, there is also social aspects (there are so many things to do, and I don't mean just the stupid college kid things like drinking, but live music and art and museums and coffee houses and parks and barnes and nobel's on a saturday afternoon withOUT studying), relationships - friendships and romantic (dating, not just serious), and relaxation. Honestly, how much time do you spend just doing nothing? Are you okay with being you, all by yourself, with nothing to do? From experience, its a hard place to be, especially if you've never done it.

    Good luck.
I think for one thing the link below is something that can keep you focused

darn, link is now dead but it said ';Benefits of delayed gratification'; and was a villa on the ocean somewhere with several very nice automobiles outside of it
I would say ';stick it out';, stay on your present course. Once you get to the end, it will have been worth it In the mean time answer a few questions on yahoo as a temporay escape from your demanding routine, Also, kind of keep on the look out for someone that has a simular schedule as yours, You could like get together once a week and do whatever. But don't intentionally spend your time trying to find someone. YOU DON'T HAVE TIME!
The first thing I would suggest is that you don't classify

yourself as ';lower middle class';...that alone will keep

you in a rut no matter how many degrees you might have.

Secondly, look around and try and share a house with a lot of

others...they have cars and phones you can borrow..

and there will be lots of people coming in and out that

you can interact with. Also, try and set aside at least

a few hours a week for fun. Go to the local club and

dance your pants off for a couple of hours to some

really loud rock. You don't need a date..just get out

there and shake it out...even if you're shy...no one

will notice and you'll feel great...and come back with

renewed energy. You need to feed your soul on some

level anyway each day. Rock, meditation, playing with

animals...something away from your intense schedule

or you'll end up resenting the pace and the work. You're

doing a fantastic thing with your studying but the teeter

totter needs to be balanced to work properly. Bon chance.
you are still young and there is so much life yet for you to enjoy. once you make it you can use that money to do far more than what some may never see or do. Im going through the same, never give up!
The simple answer is to define your personal happiness. Your dilemma seems to revolve around your interpretation of the value of material things versus the internal qualities that you hold dear (owing things and having fun vs. perseverance, frugality, and hard work). To me, it sounds like you need to find a balance between these two needs.

I would try to accept the basic principle that you can never be perfect. Instead you can try to strive to do your best, rely upon your personal moral compass as your guide, and trust your instincts. Everything will work out fine.
Milk and Cookies. I found that when I was in school and doing my homework...I would get frustrated if I was sitting too long with my face in my books, reading, writing, doing essays, or studying for exams. I discovered that the quality of my work improved when I paid attention to my body signals [I'm too tired, or I was hungry]...so I would have a snack, like milk and cookies,...and relax in front of the t.v. for an hour, or call a friend, or go outside and play tennis for an hour and a half...and then resume to my studies. Your mind and body need periods of relaxation in order to function better. Good luck and God Bless.
You shoudl be pround! Good for you, studying and working so hard. Been there, done that, your reward is coming. For now, get some relaxation when you can. Walk in the park, talk to a friend. Going out is good but you can do that when the hard part is over. And you'll be in a better position to really enjoy yourself.
im only in highschool, but what you are doing is the typical life of a normal person. Jesus can improve your life so much. you should get to know Him more. He will be your joy and comfort. this may sound dorky to you if you are not christian. but believe me, Jesus can brighten the rest of your days. He's always there when you need Him. :)
Stick with it. Eventualy you will graduate and you can get a good job. Then you can be the one enjoying your life. Hehehe, then you can go on nice vacations to places like Greece.

But honestly, I think you should try to have atleast some fun time. Donate atleast 15 mins to do whatever you want, to have fun. Maybe get a hobby. Find something that you will look forward to doing everyday.

Also try to enjoy EVERY little thing that you do. Don't walk just to get from one place to another, ENJOY the walk.

';I slept and dreamt that life was Joy.

I woke and saw that life was Duty.

    I acted, and behold, Duty was Joy.';

Act like you're confident even if you aren't.
    Appearance Matters, look the part.

    Good Luck!!
be early! and research the company!
Wear Black, Blue or Tan, No outrageous colors. No more than 9 accessories. This includes earrings as 2 a hair item as 1 each shoe is 1 watch 1 ring 1 etc.... Remain calm and be confident. Answer questions truthfully and when they do ask what your weaknesses are be honest but make sure it's not anything that will impede you from perfoming on the job. Good Luck
When they ask that inevitible question about ';What are your weaknesses'; respond in a way that your weakness is also a strength, like, ';I can be too much of a perfectionist at times';, or something like that.

How often do you listen to your own advice?

who's advice do you listen to first: yours or others? How often do you listen to your own advice?
'Often' is an indefinite term. If I say 'too often' or 'quite often', it is does really satisfy the good answer. Even a wise man can falter, when the time is bad. Same way a fool may do wonderful things at times. All issues or problems are not same.

I keep some secrets to me only. I keep some secrets with my better half. I keep some secrets with my mother or father. I keep certain secrets with my friends. I feel it is common with everybody. For different purposes, we reveal the truth only to selected people. We are not having uniform behavior in handling secrets or truth.

Coming to the point, we listen to the inner voice, only if we have good mental control and high quality of discrimination power. Otherwise we become slaves of our own wishes. Our wishes drags us even without listening to our inner voice. There are also rigid people, who do not listen to inner or outer voice. How often do you listen to your own advice?
I give myself so many advices, but never really tend to follow them. There are few very few who's advice I'd follow. If I see how you come about giving the advice and I like it,then I'd lfollow it. Other then that I don't really follow advices, thats why some things have gone so wrong for me.
None, my own. I think i give good advice to other people, which i could use myself but i dont take my advice as seriously as i should because its mine. So if someone else was giving me my own advice i think i would take it...but now i can skip that part and take my own advice thanks to your question
I only listen to my instincts. If something tells me that what i am doing is wrong then i do what i know is right. But when it comes to things like school I never want to be wrong. I am a perfectionist and that is when i rely on others to help me with my work.
I always hear my own advice first...since I'm so close to it. But I'm always willing to listen to others advice. I already know what I think, and another point-of-view could be beneficial in a way I hadn't thought of.
    mine.

others generally offer advice when it is unwanted or unneeded because they think they know better but they don't know all the reasons for my problems in the first place.

If I ask for advice? then it is pretty 50/50
    never.

i'm sort of a hypocrite that way.

i usually follow people's advice, if i believe it's good.

if i don't, then i follow my own.
well when i can't find an answer for my self, i ask for advice to others, and then i compare both answers., and from there i make my decision...
    others. thats kinda weird though.

my friends often come to me for advice but i dont really follow my own advices. whahaha.
I try to follow my own advice, but it's way easier to tell someone else what to do than it is to tell yourself. lol
others. actually. i been told 2 listen 2 myself. hahah
Rarely ever and it's a shame that I don't because I give some damned good advice!!! Maybe someday I'll learn . . . LOL.
I take my own advice, and sort of interweave it with the advice of others. But always go on your first instinct.
    Always my own advice.
I listen to my own advice first, then ask a friend for her opinion.
    all the time.
i never listen to my own advise. (:
I keep my own counsel mostly.

What advice do you give a 21 year old boy who is having a baby with someone that's 40?

They met online and now he is having a baby with her and wants advice? What advice do you give a 21 year old boy who is having a baby with someone that's 40?
';Yeah..good luck with that!';What advice do you give a 21 year old boy who is having a baby with someone that's 40?
As long as the 21 year old is mature and ready for fatherhood, and at least the couple aren't under age, then that would be a shame.

At these ages, I feel that for a 21 and 40 year old to be in a relationship, is fine because in that bracket, age doesn't matter.

It matters how mature both people are and if they ';click'; that is a good thing.

Get this, some years back I was dating a guy who was 10 years younger than I. We had a relationship for 5 years and we shared quite an attraction for each other, and then after awhile his immaturity started to show and then we had many disasters going and I was tired of the ';drama'; so we fizzled out but my point is, age doesn't make any difference as long as the girl is over the age, first of all.

Good luck with the baby on the way and all! =)
how far along is she? i thought it's hard for 40 year old women to have babies. Does she really want to raise a 10 year old by the time she's 50? If a 40 year old woman is sleeping with a 21 year old guy could she be sleeping with other guys half her age? i hate to answer with questions but that's crazy.
Id tell him congratz, you shouldnt be doing something to create something you dont want.Time to be a dad. And I hope it turns out well. Im trying to figure out an anwser to a ?. Please Please Please look at it!
age is just a number.. tell em congrats.. but as for meeting someone online and obviously having unprotected sex with them, he'll know better next time.. hopefully..
It's not that crazy. It's only a new notion that men and women should pair up with same or similarly-aged partners.
He should have listened to his mama.
she better be as rich as he thinks she is
should not of been a fool should of wrapped your tool lol
He should man up and take care of him/her no matter if it were a mistake or whatever. TELL HIM (TIME TO MAN UP)

Traveling around South America for several months - what advice can you give?

i.e. what to see, where to stay, what to take along or what to consider...

Am also interested in hearing any experience you may have had visiting there.Traveling around South America for several months - what advice can you give?
Well, I live in South America and have been living here for almost five years, and have done a fair bit of travel in South America.

    Chile

Usually nice people, but plenty of sleazy men and jealous women, especially if you are blonde. People are pushy and rude in public. Santiago is a stressful city, not the typical ';Latin American'; experience that you are expecting. It doesnt have much character of its own at all. Reasonably safe, but incredibly claustrophobic and its like being in a time warp.

    Argentina

Beautiful people, great food, great lifestyle. The women are lively and the men are just fun, fun, fun... and really hot. Proud, friendly, cultured, worldly people. Buenos Aires is one of the most beautiful cities on the planet.

    Colombia

Bogot谩 is daaaaaaangerous, but absolutely gorgeous. The people are some of the friendliest people around, always smiling and laughing. They are the kind of people that will give you the clothes off of their back and the food off of their plate.

    Uruguay

Great, friendly people. Nice food and Montevideo is a gorgeous city... its like someone stopped the clock at the end of the 80s and nothing has changed since then. People smoke a lot..hehehe. Montevideo is pretty safe, beautifuly designed, and very cute. Easy city to love.

    Paraguay

Nice people, although they can be a little bit blunt! I wouldnt ever live in Asuncion and it can get kind of seedy at night, but Encarnacion is beautiful.

    Peru

AWESOME food, nice people, nice beaches, great culture. Although I love Buenos Aires, I have to say that Peru IS the South American experience. Lovely culture and music.

Traveling around South America for several months - what advice can you give?
Well, everything depends of your likes, if you like to relax you should consider a kind of place with a good environment, there are a lot of places in Colombia which offers to you a good experience and a very cheap travel. You can get information about tourism in Colombia, you can find information in: http://www.turismocolombia.com/

You'll can select your language and learn about Colombian several offers... Be fine!!!

Well, I'm from Colombia, and you should keep in mind that Colombian people are very friendly and you'll be welcome whenever you want to come!!
I was in South America this summer... spending time in both Chile and Argentina.

In Chile (or Argentina but I stayed in Santiago so it was much closer from there than Buenos Aires) I would definitely recommend taking a trip to the Andes if you're into outdoor things.

It was the beginning of winter when we went but we still went whitewater rafting, ziplining, horseback riding and hiking and it was amazing!!

Cascada de las Animas was the Nature Preserve we visited and I enjoyed it and it wasn't too expensive.

    www.cascada.net

Also try and get to a port town. We went to Valparaiso and Vina del Mar which was very fun. If you make it to those towns (they're practially connected) eat in the rotating restaurant that has an amazing view... I can't remember the name of it now but it's in the center of town and rotates with a 360 degree view of the ocean and city.

If you make it to Buenos Aires go to the Recoleta Artisan Market, it's located right by a church and cemetary where we attended a service and where Eva Peron's mausoleum is.

Also go to a futbol (soccer) game. They're intense! A Tango show in Argentina is fun too! And make sure you eat a steak, they're wonderful.

That's all I can think of at the moment...
South America is great fun! I traveled Peru for a few months a couple years ago, and I am in Chile right now. I also know a bit of Argentina. I must say, Peru was my fave. The food, the beaches, the desert, the mountains and jungle...try a bit of everything! And of course, you can't miss Cuzco. If you go through Lima, try Calle de Las Pizzas for a taste of nightlife Peruvian style. Try to hit up Vina del Mar and Valparaiso in Chile. Santiago isn't all that magic...I would head over to Mendoza or Cordoba instead. Plus, food and drink is uber spendy in Santiago.

Try hostel.com or hostelworld.com for a nice range of hostels along the way. However, try to stay in a real hotel in Lima. Its a bit more dangerous than other places.

Other advise? I would suggest going in spring or fall so as to avoid heat stroke during your adventures. That has always been a problem for me. Also, check out the transportation systems in each country before you end up stranded on the street. For example, buses in Santiago only run on cards that you have to buy; taxis in some countries have meters, while others you have to barter for, etc.

    Happy Travels!
I am a real hot latin american and I know my country and it is so beautiful, bogot谩 is the cultural and economic of south america.cartagena is the best romantic city,my country has many pretty places.pleaase visit us.Cuba and puerto rico are so cute.

  • If you found a time machine and could travel back to give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?

Just for fun, assume that you were only given enough time to say 2 sentences or less to your younger self. What would you say?If you found a time machine and could travel back to give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
I wouldn't say anything. As terrible as my life may have been at some points and as much as I wish that I could do differently, I would be afraid that I would change the course of events that brought my little girls into this world. I wouldn't trade that for anything. If you found a time machine and could travel back to give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
You mean like: ';save the cheerleader; save the world'; or something?

My two sentences would be: Don't marry Bob. Don't marry Mel, either.

Man, my life would sure be different if I could have traveled back in time to tell myself that !!!

grand national 2008,Comply Or Die, back it early, put everything you own on it ,or something to that effect
Buy Apple stock in 2000 and sell it in mid 2008! Don't sleep around! haha. That is what i would tell myself if I could go back. Would i have listened... probably not :)
Finish nursing school, and dont marry that loser.
If it feels good, then don't ******* do it!!

What advice would you give to someone who is trying to Re-enter?

the work force after having been out of work almost a year?

Please dont say temp agency. They are often all talk and no action! What advice would you give to someone who is trying to Re-enter?
Been there done that, it's tuff. Your best bet, is to find someone, a friend who can give you inside info about a job opening, but remember, you must be qualified, to begin with. I use to do the hiring, and I always ended up picking the sharpest of the group. Smart and sharp dresser, with good references. Oh and if you smoke, forget it, in todays world, smokers are last to be hired, if at all. Good Luck PS: You could always move to China, that's where most of our jobs have gone. What advice would you give to someone who is trying to Re-enter?
Use your network of friends and acquaintances to help you locate a job. Phone your old colleagues to see if they know of any openings. Remember that the majority of jobs are not advertised.
I'll tell you what I tell my students, focus on those transferable skills that are still in use today. For example, if you had worked in customer service, but it was 10 years ago, you might be a little out of date in terms of how an office works today, but customer service is still customer service. The KEY is to show how you're still able to perform satisfactorily in today's world, and have some understanding as to how things are right now.

A lot of it depends on how long it's been since you were last working, along with the reason for your hiatus. Something like taking time off to raise children is perfectly legit and acceptable. But taking time off to travel and ';party'; is not!

Updating any skills, such as computer software can also a good suggestion because it shows that you're willing to learn and keep up-to-date, which makes you look good.

Just keep in mind that you'll be competing against those whose skills and/or experience are more ';current,'; but that doesn't mean you won't be right for the job. You'll just have to show a prospective employer how valuable you can be. By demonstrating that you did it before, understand how things have ';changed today,'; and honestly believe you can be a real benefit to them is what will lead to your success.

What advice would you give a young person starting his/her first small business?

My advice is to thoroughly understand what you will be getting into -- and that means researching as much as you can about the particular business you want to start, and what to expect as an entrepreneur.

Define your business first. What do you want to do? Make a list of possible businesses you can develop and write the pros and cons of each. Clarify your business model.

Check the feasibility of the business idea. Is it workable? Given your resources, do you think there's a chance?

Once you've determined exactly what business to start, research about the business -- how much will it take you to start the business, what do you need, who are doing it, who is your target market, how are you going to reach your market. This is your business plan. It is best to put it in writing, especially if you will be seeking loans or investors as they will require a business plan

I suggest you read the following books as well. Borrow them from your library or buy them from your favorite bookstore

    - What No One Ever Tells You About Starting Your Own Business: Real Life Start-Up Advice from 101 Successful Entrepreneurs http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1鈥?/a>

    - Steps to Small Business Start-Up : Everything You Need to Know to Turn Your Idea into a Successful Business http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1鈥?/a>

It may help you if you could talk with a small business expert or free mentors to give you ideas on how to make your dream of starting a business come true even without money. Here are some places where you can find a mentor:

    - Government Mentoring Programs such as SBDCs, which works with community colleges and local business development councils to offer mentoring programs http://www.sba.gov/sbdc/sbdcnear.html ; or the Women's Network for Entrepreneurial Training http://www.sba.gov/womeninbusiness/wnet_鈥?/a>

    - Volunteer programs such as SCORE http://www.score.org which is composed of mostly retired executives and entrepreneurs

    - Professional organizations such as the National Women鈥檚 Business Council http://www.nwbc.gov/Mentoring/programs.h鈥?/a>

    - Industry and trade associations

    - Local business groups, such as the chamber of commerce

    - Local chapters of business groupsWhat advice would you give a young person starting his/her first small business?
    1. Make sure you have enough cash put aside for the first

    couple years.

    2. Don't over stock your merchandise because some times

you will not have any sales.

** I had a friend who was in the clothing business for 10

years and open his own business and closed after 6

months. .What advice would you give a young person starting his/her first small business?
    one word---- execute.

you can sit and talk and plan all you want, but until you execute your business, you wont put the wheels in motion.

you could always make adjustments as you go. my friends always talk about starting businesses, but they dont put it in motion. BEST of Luck!!!!!!
    do inteligently and genuine
Get enough money and adapt the plans as you go. Of course you need to think of the plan before hand but you can't think of everything, so adapt.

Also get the right tools or service! Take a look at this huge list of available services:

    http://www.moneyaside.com/150-essential-business-or-freelancing-tools-and-resources
    Write a REALISTIC business plan.

Have a contingency plan that explains how your business will survive if you have really bad luck and EVERYTHING goes wrong...

What advice would you give to McCain to improve his campaign?

Be pro-active instead of reactive to Obama's successes. Do something original- perhaps a tour of Asia and meeting with the Dalai Lama, posing for pictures, speaking at Tien an Mien Square in China surrounded by 200 people. Oh, make sure he pays the salary of all the media members who might be unwilling to accompany him on the trip, etc, etc,.... anything original and creative.

That will quite a change from their playing cards at their office and waiting to pounce on Obama.

Best answer? What advice would you give to McCain to improve his campaign?
There's nothing he can do in this atmosphere. The world hates Republicans, they love pop stars, and the media isn't showing him. McCain is not doing anything wrong and there's nothing anyone can do about it. It's the world we live in.

This will be our first 'global presidential election' where the the world will strongly influence Americans about their choice. You can see writing on the wall, Comrade. What advice would you give to McCain to improve his campaign?
obamacain need to plan strategic wardrobe malfunctions at the debates if they intend to endear themselves to the 3% of Americans dense enough to still believe there's any power in that office. It was specifically designed as a figure-head position and little else.

    ...
Considering the media is boycotting him, I think he's doing pretty good. He should just continue doing what he is doing and I think he will win this horse race.

It reminds me of the 'Tortoise and the Hare' story.
withdraw and let Ron Paul have it.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWfIhFhel鈥?/a>
Go vacation at a nursing home, or let Ron Paul take over, he'll save the Republican party and restore its true principles.
His negative attacks are damaging his brand. He needs a new approach.
Keep on truckin'.....!!! You're NUMBER 1, buddy!!!
    Ummm...dropout and give a 3rd party a chance.

For adult women: What's the best advice you can give to a teenage girl?

What's something that you wish you could tell to teenage girls these days? Or maybe it's something you wish someone would have told you back when you were a teenager?

guys potentially could answer this also if u wantFor adult women: What's the best advice you can give to a teenage girl?
Cleanse ,Tone, Moisturise....For adult women: What's the best advice you can give to a teenage girl?
    1) Don't build your life around some boy!

I'm still surprised at how many girls pick the same college as their boyfriend just so they can be together. Or pick out a career based on what their boyfriend is going to do. Or drop their friends the minute they get a new boyfriend.

    2) Put off dating as long as you can. You can concentrate on yourself, have some fun, figure out what YOU want. And the longer you put off dating, the longer you'll put off the temptations of sex, which guys and girls both have way too early.
It's something my mum told me,

';Your future lies before you like a driven sheet of snow,

    Be careful where you tread,

    For every step will show.';

My personal advice would be to enjoy your childhood and don't try to grow up so quickly. Once your few years of childhood are gone, adulthood is forever.
    stop being so damn easy.

sorry, im a ';teenage girl'; too, but

females these days are scandalous as

    I don know what.

edit ; thats another thing I forgot to mention, finish high school. I f*cked around, slept during class, left class all the time, came to school high, and ended up getting my GED.
I would say respect yourself and stop trying to grow up too fast, There will be plenty of time for boys when your in your 20's and when that time comes don't give yourself a bad reputation...

Don't try and be something your not to please other people, If they care they will love you for you.

    FINNISH HIGH SCHOOL!
You need to do the best you can in school because your education is very important. Don't try to grow up too fast. Enjoy your youth because it's some of the best years of your life. Treat people the way you want to be treated.
Enjoy being young, don't let anyone rush you into adulthood. Remember you can never go back. Have fun though!
listen to your mum, and ALWAYS use protection! Don't worry so much about what other people think, and concentrate on expanding your mind rather than being merely decorative.

  • I Just Become a US Citizen, What Advice Would You Give Me?

I need advice on best way to succeed life in America, what are some tips or trick to make my life easeir in the land of opportunity! do I still have a shot at the American dream?

ppl who lived in America for ever or Immigrants that made the American dream.I Just Become a US Citizen, What Advice Would You Give Me?
Stand tall and proud, for you have become a citizen of the most wonderful country on Earth. Sometimes we get it wrong but we eventually get it right. As others have said, blend in to the ways of the American people.

You must have been here for several years to have gained citizenship, so you must have a job or be in school. Education is the way to success. Save your money and own your own business.

You haven't listed your age, so unless you are beyond 70 years old you have time to gain the American dream.

Good luckI Just Become a US Citizen, What Advice Would You Give Me?
It seems you already have a good knowledge of our language. People always discriminate against people who speak other languages, so try to learn English the best you can. It's very important to communicate to others so you can live the best American Dream!

    Congrats and good luck!
Assimilate ! Never forgret who you are or where you came from but Assimilate to American society and culture.
    GO TO COLLEGE.
    have sex

If Hillary is the Dem candidate, what advice would you give her against John McCain?

In order to have a shot at beating him.If Hillary is the Dem candidate, what advice would you give her against John McCain?
call uma thurman and ask her if she has any more ';kill bill'; movies in the works. If Hillary is the Dem candidate, what advice would you give her against John McCain?
nothing i dont want her to win
    The advice I would give Hillary regarding her against John McCain - ';Pack up and go back to NYC. Your negatives are too high to beat him.';
i may be old and over the hill but am still younger then mccain...
Give up, you don't stand a chance. McCain '08.
She needs to tell the country that she will take the country back from the corporations, that the Republicans gave away. We don't need American companies building factories in China. We have the best workers in the world right here at home, but we want decent remuneration.
McCain has been flip-flopping too much lately...saying stupid remarks like being in Iraq for 100 years...so my advice to Clinton is...keep him talking until he self-destructs.
Don't try to match wits with him on military matters, the economy, or experience; he has one of the best military backgrounds in Washington and he has served on the finance committees. Do not try to match experience as he has been at it longer than Clinton and Obama combined. She really does not have any strengths that would be of any threat to McCain; his age is about all she can attack.
    Dump Bill
Nothing, just keep emphasising what the Republicans have done to the country's economy and not done about the country's addiction to energy from oil source. IT IS THE ECONOMY, STUPID! That was used against George Sr.
    Toss up the white flag.

Not only can't she win against McCain, she won't.

And if by some miracle she did, I'll swim across the Detroit River and into Windsor to live.
    Don't speak!!!

Don't smile (Hillary is NOT photogenic)

    Don't do that bug-eyed thing.

    Don't shriek

    Don't cry

    Chose Obama as running mate.
Her best bet would be to have a debate rule requiring both candidates to wear skimpy yellow dresses. McCain doesn't look good in yellow.
Well all she has to do is not make War the main topic of her intentions in the Whitehouse as he seems to do with each speech and debate. He wants to be the next Super hero Teddy Roosevelt. Enough with the sabor rattling at our expense.
Stick to the facts, those will be enough
I would tell her to divorce her husband, he stands in the way of Hillary getting the nomination, people don't want him in the white house again.
That's a very big if your dealing with. If she can beat Obama then we will offer her some advice. But she can't beat him, and so the only advice we can give is for her to save face and bowed out gracefully.
Remember mccain supported the dubai port deal and republicans have divided the nation
My advice to Hillary would be:

Try not to cry or let your desperation show.

Because it hasn't been working very well for her so far.

@BadBambi: McCain IS an American, that shows your ignorance. McCain has suffered hellacious torment and nearly died for America, what have YOU done for America? McCain is more of an American than YOU will ever be.
I would tell her to go away... we don't need her screwing things up. PLUS! just imagine that scum bill back in our white house. what could be worse?
I hope she is not But i would hold my nose and vote for her because McCain=Bush for 100yrs
    Become a Republican.
Promise to keep her child molester husband OUT of our govt and schools. Think us parents forgot having to explain all that to our kids NEVER. She can't even use her last name why should we mark it on a ballot.
she shouldent beat him. McCain is much better than hillary. But however wins it is Gods will so JUST LIVE WITH IT. (we have to)
Let every one Know he is not a real American, he was NOT born in America, so how does he have the right to even run?

If he win's let's impeach him because he is not a American.

What is some of the best financial advice you have ever received?

My Economics teacher in high school once said that whenever we receive our salary from work, we should have to think our savings first before our expenses. Although it depends on our lifestyle whether we can save money or not, I found out that my teacher is right for saying that thing based on my experience. What is some of the best financial advice you have ever received?
When I was a young man the Canadian Government introduced a pension plan for all Canadians. I was participating in a company pension plan and I was going to stop contributing to company plan, thinking I did not need two plans.

A man I respected advised me to stay in both plans, advise that enabled me to retire at age 49.

What is some of the best financial advice you have ever received?
Pay cash if the value of the product will go down. For example a car, boat, or electronics. Finance items that will go up in value. For example, education, some property, and possibly a small business. Do not borrow money to buy investments such as stocks, bonds, or mutual funds.
talk to a financial consultant is one of them so i did at http://www.jacksfinancialconsultantlist.鈥?/a> and its been the best advice yet.
Not to engage in impulse buying, comparison shopping, and conservatism in making investments in order to remain stable and not take excessive risks
I have hundreds of friends and associates......none of the guys or girls have ever made any money on these Internet businesses......if they had they would be talking about it and I would be in on it........SCAM
If you can't pay cash for it, then you don't need it (shelter is one exception as long as it is in your price range).

hello - ';you can only spend a dollar once'; best advice i ever received.
Before you buy anything, sleep on it. In most cases you will change your mind about buying it.
If you can't payoff a car within 3 years don't buy it.
Live within your means. Spend less than you make.
Don't spend money you don't have.

For ten points... What is the best advice that you could give to someone who you would never see again?

In your opinion, what is the best advice you could tell a friend, a stranger, a family member, anybody, that was leaving and you wouldn't see them for the rest of your life.

Ten points goes to the answer that really makes me want to change a wrong path I may be leading, or one answer I really like. For ten points... What is the best advice that you could give to someone who you would never see again?
Tell them to never stop smiling =)

smiles are good for the heart and soul and take you down many more roads then a frown

tell them to enjoy the simple things in life, like who we are, the love we feel and things that make you smile like the way jellos always got that jigglyness and little kids sound so cute when they laughFor ten points... What is the best advice that you could give to someone who you would never see again?
I'd say let's not say goodbye on a bridge because it is bad luck and it means that *one of us will not live to see the other*....o.O.......LOL

    No but seriously, I'd say:

    Nothing lasts forever

    So live it up

    Drink it down

    Laugh it off

    Avoid the bullsh*t

    Take chances

    And never have regrets,

    Because at one point,

    Everything you did

    was EXACTLY what you wanted....

.....like meeting me: your best friend, so don't forget me!!!!!!! :P

i'd advise them to be true to themselves. do not participate in self deception. do not project an image of something you are not. spend some time each day just thinking your thought- get to know yourself. last but not least, don't do things that you would be embarassed/ashamed if your gramma knew about it.
Take the time to know your own mind. Know that you are not alone - it's you and the entire universe. What you wish for you will get. Let bliss be your guide. And most importantly, enjoy your life.
I'd tell them to only follow the path that feels right for THEM and them only. not anyone else. Id tell them to try to achive their goals and dont give up until they do.
Everybody deserves equality. If it doesn't hurt anybody else or themselves in anyway, there's nothing wrong with it.
Live one day at the time and do not worry about tomorrow. Don't hearth anybody and do the right think.
As long as you aren't six feet under it's never too late or impossible to change the path you are on. How badly do you want to get off that path?
People who ask our advice almost never take it. Yet we should never refuse to give it, upon request, for it often helps us to see our own way more clearly

Don't follow any advice, no matter how good it sounds

You could tell them that you will meet again, in heaven.
dude i suck at giving advices.
Who cares you'll never see them again!
I would say to them 'i do hope you make the right desicions. i wish you all the luck for your future'
Don't wear your socks in the bathtub
I'd say,,write soon and take care of yourself
see you on aim? if not...facebook? if not...myspace??
    This:

    My Wish by Rascal Flatts

I hope that the days come easy and the moments pass slow,

And each road leads you where you want to go,

And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,

I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.

And if one door opens to another door closed,

I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,

If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile,

But more than anything, more than anything,

My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,

Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,

You never need to carry more than you can hold,

And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,

I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,

    Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you never look back, but ya never forget,

All the ones who love you, in the place you left,

I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,

And you help somebody every chance you get,

Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,

And you always give more than you take.

But more than anything, yeah, and more than anything,

My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,

Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,

You never need to carry more than you can hold,

And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,

I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,

    Yeah, this, is my wish.

    This is my wish

I hope you know somebody loves you

May all your dreams stay big
