What advice would you give a young person starting his/her first small business?

I had a small business and it folded after 2 years,one thing i learned was to advertise,work long hours,make out a business plan and keep to it,don't sit idle for 1 min. keep on the go,open early and close late. Good Luck,remember you are up against the Big guys.
