I want to be a kindergarten teacher. Can you give me advice?

I love little kids and love working with them

I'm an English major. When I take teaching classes, will that be a real eye opener into how to teach little children?

Because I'm reading lessons plans on the internet. To be honest, if I had to go in after Labor day and teach, I wouldn't know where to start.

Are there any kindgergarnen teachers out there that can give advice?

I was just thinking about it and began to wonder, is all.I want to be a kindergarten teacher. Can you give me advice?
I am a retired teacher who had taught 3 yr olds thru middle school. The way to TRULY tell what you want to do is to go out into the K rooms , several of them and just observe. K is a very very very emotionally demanding age. They often can't ';tie their shoes' ( that was in my generation, but it is something else now. Some of them still aren't potty trained and poop their pants, they don't know they are supposed to sit down and raise their hand, they don't know how to line up to go anywhere in the building, so you are basically a mommy to 25-35 ';babies';. Some love it, some don't, but for any teaching dream, PLEASE, go out into the public schools, tell them what you are doing and TEACHING IS THE 2ND HIGHEST STRESSFUL JOB IN THE USA BEHIND TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS STATISTICALLY !!!!!!!!!!I want to be a kindergarten teacher. Can you give me advice?
Teaching kindergarten is a tough one, it needs patience, love, and care. I just give you tips to handle them effectively.

1. They love to play, so prepare appropriate games for them.

2. They like to draw and colors, so plan well a creative activities.

3. They like stories, so be a good storyteller.

4. They like to dance and sings, cause they like to show their talents, so prepare a little tokens or reward.

5. They are easily upset and cry, prepare yourself for them to comfort. GUDLUCK
Good teachers are not made, they are born. you either have it or you don't. All I wanted was to be a teacher, but when I got into it, it was a disaster, and no mater how much I wanted to be good at it, I just didn't have it.

If you have the skills it is very rewarding.... go for it... but if it doesn't come natural don't try to force it. it can rip you apart.
you need an associate degree in early childhood

My mother is a teacher and from what I know, to get such a position it is best to volunteer at different schools as an aide and get yourself to be known. This will also show you whether you in reality like being around kids and being patient with them :)
